LynetteC: I'm not sure what point you're making. That link shows EBGames is selling W3 GOTY for $49.95 and it's only $45.09 right here on GOG.

According to isthereanydeal.com it's been sold for as little as $19.99 on both GOG and Steam at some point in the past. G2A's current cheapest price appears to be $23.34.

I guess the moral of the stoy is if you want a cheap GOG code for Witcher 3, wait for a sale and buy directly from GOG. The Witcher games are ALWAYS included in sales here and the codes are guaranteed legit. :-)

fr33kSh0w2012: Yeah but you're in the UK can you get the gote edition up in AUS dollars you will see it's roughly $80
OUCH! Sorry, I didn't realist the EBGames site was in Aus$ - I was comparing with US$. You guys really do get screwed. don't you?

Having said that, the OP is in Germany where the exchange rate isn't quite so extorionate!

gibbeynator: Except Green Man Gaming, they're good. CDPR would like you to THINK they're "EVIL ILLEGAL KEY THIEVES!" though, but they're not.
avatar
Darvond: Did you even read the specific phrasing I used?

It doesn't matter what your opinion is, if CDPR doesn't actually sell direct or authorize them, then you can't trust the key received as genuine, even if it is valid.
Sure you can. The fundamental problem with G2A is that a lot of their keys come from fraudulent transactions- stolen credit cards usually- so the original seller reverses the transaction and the key you bought gets nuked; and G2A aren't good at or don't care about vetting such transactions.

CDPR doesn't have GMG as an authorised reseller but so long as they buy their keys legitimately and re-sell them once then the keys are perfectly safe to buy, and CDPR even gets money from the initial sale. That model has been used extensively and perfectly safely in places with ludicrous regional pricing models such as Aus/NZ for years- nz/ausgameshop sells keys usually from UK or eastern Europe boxed copies, you can even have the box shipped out unopened if you want; and cdwow (renamed now and I can't remember what to) sells copies from boxed asian copies. So long as the site is honest it's safe.

The problem with G2A is that they fundamentally aren't honest; they definitely don't buy the keys themselves and there may be multiple grey market sites all selling the same key, which was bought with a stolen Visa and will be cancelled in x days time. G2A has an awful reputation while GMG has a good reputation, and each for good reason.

Yeah It's extortion all right and to make matters worse check out how much a regular 2080 video card costs here:

https://www.pccasegear.com/category/193_1965/graphics-cards/geforce-rtx-2080

Those are in AUD

I paid 1399.99 AUD for my 1080ti as well

tinyE: You guys are so full of shit!!!!
G2A is fine! I buy stuff from them all of the time!
Just the other day I got this. :D
She's gonna look really pretty in my back yard!
Just FYI, you've been had.

That bridge doesn't really exist anymore. I've seen it destroyed over and over again in at least dozen or so movies, and I'm pretty sure they have already stopped rebuilding it every time.

So basically, you've paid for nothing.

Darvond: Looks like you got an invalid key, sorry you got a cut rate key from an unauthorized seller.

(Remember children, if GOG/CDProjekt says they aren't selling there, consider it black market for all intents and purposes.)
Why am I hitting this with a game I bought on GOG then? I think this was never an issue with G2A?

Ew, don't use G2A, sooner or later you'll get a bogus game code and you'll lose money. As for the invalid license issue, try waiting for a bit, probably a server hiccup or something like that..

Don't buy from G2A. Apparently codes there are often bought with stolen credit cards, and GOG will revoke the codes when they learn of this.

Ask G2A for a refund.

If you bought a key from GOG and it doesn't work, then contact Support. From what I've seen, the original amount of generated keys have been used up in most of these cases. So Support will have to contact the devpub to make more keys.

Now if you bought from other grey market sellers and the key doesn't work, you'll have to contact their customer support to see what's going on or getting a refund.

Good job, you replied to a post I made over 5 years ago, and over 6 avatars ago.

You know, I'd be in the habit of changing my avatar and display name more often if GOG hadn't made both processes like pulling teeth.

As others suggested, you bought your game key from the equivalent of three kobolds in a trenchcoat.
