My thread wouldn't post, I made this thread as a test.

I finally figured out what the issue was, I was using bracket quote=name bracket for quoting with names like some other forums do. It seems this forum doesn't like that.

GOG doesn't like it when you're "manipulating" forum tags. Especially with the quote tags! Some years ago they had the power to completely break the forum, so you can't post anything anymore where the tags aren't valid. Ok but why was my OP downrated? I can't delete threads or rename them. This thread was literally just a test to see if there was a problem with my posting threads in general.

I still don't get how having code that indicates who is being quoted by giving the name rather than by post number would allow for such exploitation, it works on countless other forums.

I am the evil mastermind, "Everyone Writes In Italics!" (I know it's long, names a work in progress)

I bet it's whatever those others were doing with the italics code that is somehow effecting posts after, damn this forum is weird in some ways.

OK so let's try intentionally making some words in italics. No effect, everything is still just in italics, not the dreaded double italics!

It's not just what you're writing. It's EVERYTHING that comes after the messed up url/italics tag. Usernames, rep, registration date, location... Even GOG's footer is in italics now^^
