It's rather magical to see a major release for an old project like this.

Warzone2100 is not the grandpa of the RTS genre, but it's a longstanding captivating show of what good releasing a game to the hands of the public can be. Indeed, it was a commercial game made by Pumpkin Studios, and surely if slowly has the community gone though countless iterations of the internals.

It's one of those games that if not for the Open Source release, I'd be campaigning for it's release here, is the thing.
man, the only game that gives you counter artillery possibilities..... provided you build the right radar type, and provided you linked the right units to it

I never did figure out how to use the commander, the sight of cross map fire exchanges...can't really think of any other game that did this.

I tried this recently (so an earlier version) and while I found it cool it was not my thing. Looked solid though.

It's fantastic to see WZ2100 still going after all this time. I've been playing this game since the early builds, and it just keeps getting better and better. I still kick myself for not buying that prehistoric sealed boxed copy of the original retail game while I lived in Korea; it would have been a cool collector's piece.
This looks incredibly familiar.

Free to download I guess?

The art style really reminds me of Earth 2150.

Ironically WZ 2100 and Earth 2150 pretty much hit at the same time way back when with almost similar stories.

Had I known what games I'd miss when I was older, I too would have sought out a copy of Gunmetal, Urban Assault, and a spare copy of NASCAR Racing 2.
