Cut him some slack. If you had Greece stuck to your ass you'd be an asshole too. :P

WinKey + {game-name} + Enter and you're in. No need to look at icons that are similar. :)

I've actually got Canadians staying at my B&B right now. DId you know they actually consider themselves a real country? Funny people.
Hmm I met a lot of nice people in Montreal during the 360 tour that were trying to gain independence from Canada.
Sorry to dig this up after a while, but I agree with OP. Is there any plan to fix the icons so they don't look that ugly? I write this because I think this really sucks :/
I am not happy with what I get. I want original icons from the games I buy here. I have 27 inch monitor and they are barely recognizable, all looking exactly the same :(

Take a look here. I haven't finished parsing my installers for old (and new) icons, but you may find some of the old icons there. Replace the gfw_high.ico with the one you grab from the Old Ones folder, and you should have the old icons back.

To all, if you have any icons I haven't already uploaded (check the xlsx file), feel free to send it to me.
Also, you can go into the game's installation folder (right-click the icon and select "Open file location") and take a look at the icon for the executable. If you like that one - or any other icon in there - then go into the ugly shortcut's properties and do what Timelord said way back when: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/how_to_get_rid_of_the_new_icons/post2, and browse your way to the installation folder and choose the icon for the executable if you prefer that one.

Looking at a few of my games with the round icons they are definitely different than those of the game executable, so you have some options for getting the original icons back.

dirtyharry50: Unfortunately, all Windows icons are too small in my opinion but then I don't like the Windows UI much.

Wishbone: You are aware that you can scale the Windows desktop icons to any size you want, right? Click on the desktop, hold down ctrl and use the mouse scroll wheel.
Didn't know this. Cool. Thanks.
