One more game to my shelf.
One of these days I'll stop spending money I don't have. Sadly, that's not today.
Thought about buying this one or DROD 1-3 the whole day.

Easy solution: Get drunk and buy them both...

(Yeah, life can be so easy!)

ginsengsamurai: Can someone tell me...

1) Does this game have replay value or is it very linear?

2) Are the characters pre-made or can you customize your own and give them names?

3) How long would you say this game takes to finish from start to end?
only played for a bit, but:

1) even though the characters only have 4 skills each (so far, maybe later on more will unlock) the combat mechanics are great so you can approach each fight in a different manner, and since this game is all about combat, I think it does have a replay value (linear? well, the maps are quite small and linear, but each has a side route where you find some more enemies usually guarding a treasure you wouldn't get otherwise)

2) the characters are pre-made (due to the story, they're all dubbed and have their personality) and when they level up you can't distribute any points, it just unlocks more skills and increases statistics automatically, but you can equip them with loot you gather on your journey

3) have absolutely no idea :)
I've gone through the first two chapters so far and, small side paths with extra loot chests notwithstanding, it's completely linear.

Aside from trying again on a higher difficulty, the main thing that seems likely to give it replay value is the configurability of your party. There are a few phases (the intro, and part of one chapter where the characters split up) where you're stuck using a specific combination of characters, but for most of the game you can choose which four of the eight will be your active ones, and they each have a unique skill set that you can freely change around when you're not in combat, so you could replay it with a different party combination and face a different set of tactical challenges.
