...does it mean that you are not a good gamer.

Honestly, I've tried to get into LoL and Dota 2 on several occasions, but I'm just terrible. No matter how much I try, I'm always shouted at in the chat and a reason why my team loses. It's quite disparaging, to be honest.

It just means you're not good at MOBAs :)
What is a MOBA?

You can give a chance to Heroes of Newerth too (but probably as difficult if not more than Dota 2), one of the oldest, or try to grab a beta key for the newest MOBA of this studio (Strife) which is quite a lot easier.

Oh okay, must be getting too old. x)
I dunno how people stick with one game for years at a time. I'm far too promiscuous with my entertainment needs.
There is only one winning move when it comes to MOBAs.

Don't play them.

Ever.
Not being good at MOBAs means you won't be dwelling in that toxic social atmosphere for overlong. Consider the bullet dodged.

+1. It doesn't really matter if you're good or not (and the only way to get good is to spend a TON of time on them), the other players still make them not worth the effort. If you think voice chat on CoD and Battlefield is bad, at least you know they're just kids.

I tried one once, it was some free-to-play one and I had people calling to have me reported and god knows what else :D

I had a few good hue's at their expense getting all worked up over a game like that :)

This.
Not a good thing when the fun is stripped from games - especially team games - by the players themselves.

That's why I like playing Blood Bowl with GOGers :)

No hassle, a very helpful community, and fun :)
It all depends on how much time you put into it.
You will get better after hours and hours of play time, at least for LOL.
My advice, don't play any moba. Or competitive multipayer games where you constantly get berated.

edit typo, remove rant :P
