A hunter lurks beneath the waves!

Silent Service 1+2, a bundle of two legendary MicroProse classic submarine simulation war games, dating back to 1985 & 1990, now available on GOG.com for only $5.99!

From the second you take command, you'll live by the motto FIND 'EM, CHASE 'EM, SINK 'EM, as you follow instruments, charts and your instincts in search of hostile convoys. Is a submerged daylight periscope attack best or do you charge in on the surface at night using only radar bearings to guide you? Do you fire a spread of your precious torpedoes or can you close the range and pick off the enemy with a single torpedo shot? These decisions and many more are yours to make as you take your place among the elite ranks of the Silent Service!

Silent Service 1+2 includes MicroProse's both legendary submarine warfare titles, that will bring you all the challenging combat versus single ships and heavily escorted convoys you could handle. All the critical battle stations are represented: engine room, conning tower and ship’s bridge. The games present you with an infinite variety of situations using complete maps and charts for the entire Southwest Pacific. With a wide selection of historical scenarios from individual attacks to patrol missions, and clear distraction-free graphics that allows you to stay on top of the situation, this classic pack provides you with everything that you need to feel the excitement of actual submarine combat.

Battle stations! Prepare to fully submerge in Silent Service 1+2, for only $5.99, on GOG.com!

Crosmando: NOTE TO TOMMO:

You own the rights to "Elite", but please don't just put the original 1984 game on GOG, it's way too old to get sold for 6 bucks standalone. Please include "Elite Plus", the 1991 VGA remake as well as the original.

Over and out.
Yes, this one too please.
Another MicroProse classic! (adds to wishlist)

Licurg: More Microprose ! Now how about Sword of the Samurai next ?!?!?

Couchtr26: I would buy Sword of the Samurai 8 days before it was released. I've lost my disc copies years ago, though I would still enjoy to play the game again.
I still play the game regularly. I got it from an abandonware site, although I'd love to get it from GOG ....

Considering that the original Elite (and Elite Plus) are considered freeware nowadays, I doubt GOG will charge anything for it. Frontier and First Encounters, however, will be a different story (1991 and 1995. That's young enough to be charged for something.

Never played Silent Service though. I only heard Joueur du Grenier (aka the French AVGN) bash the NES port). Good thing that thee manual is included because his main complain is that the game is way too slow and doesn't explain anything (and most used NES games come without the manual).
Nice release. Hopefully a sign of things to come...
I want Command Aces of the Deep (with the videos from Eric Topp) and I'd like to see Wolfpack on here also. And of course I also want Silent Hunter 1, 3, 4, and 5 on here as well without the uplay or starforce DRM garbage. You only have Silent Hunter 2 on here so far, why not the others? And Destroyer Command would be nice also.

But thanks for putting these on here. I'm sure Neal Stevens over at www.subsim.com will be happy!

I remember playing the first one's NES port. Fond memories from my childhood. I used to build a cockpit out of the couch pillows and sheets which encompassed myself and the TV to enhance immersion.
Dang! I love Silent Service. I remember when I was a kid I got the highest rank possible. Then I went to school, played on the playground, and knew that I was a submarine commander!
Nice release! Still waiting for the rest of the Silent Hunter series though.
And more happy people.

Quite a refreshing change from those other-toned posts that are starting to feel like the norm in new release threads :-)
Added to wishlist... and bought less than 2 hours later.

I'm very glad to see another Microprose title, especially a sim.

Thank you Gog and Tommo.

From what I saw of the video, that port is faithful to the pc/amiga versions, but the JdG is completely retarded. He can't deal with a sib sum, by definition. His attempt showed that he had absolutely no idea of what he was dealing with ("uh, the torpedo doesn't run straight ahead, wtf, maybe it's a submarine thing, dunno", that he hadn't opened the manual, and that he is immediately lost when a game doesn't provide the pacing of sonic or require less twitchy reflexes than tactics.

JdG is fun when it comes to old animes and such, but he's pretty much gaming-illiterate. He mostly wants to look angry at things.

And Silent Service, when used in conjonction with a brain, is absolutely awesome.
Oh hell yes!

Yeeessss!

This release came as a complete surprise to me, and a very happy one too! I've played the game on the mighty C-64, Amiga 500 and now...on my quad-core, oh-so-impersonal-but-muscular gaming laptop. Happy times!
