amok: Surely it can neither be on request from the publisher, nor due to DRM matters or "quality control"... is this just to fit with schedules so that you are sure there is some sort of release each week?
Probably for the schedule. Imagine the shitstorm of posts that would erupt if there was a Tuesday (or god forbid a whole week) without a release?
Enjoyed this one myself already, picked it up on a sale ages ago, unfortunately with DRM, will have to think about re-buying DRM free here at some point.

Kind of how it was right after the holiday break? :)

Ugh....glad that's all over, at least :)

SeduceMePlz: We still need:

2. The 'speech' folder from the original Alien Shooter 2: Vengeance added as a bonus to Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded to allow restoring the cut voice-overs if desired. (see here).

Would someone who has Vengeance post the size of the original installed 'speech' folder (or a list of files it contains, etc) for comparison with the GOG version of Reloaded?

This does sound pretty unique. I mean, what other game lets you earn money and experience to buy items and skills?

SeduceMePlz: I don't have Vengeance, so I can't verify, but the 274 MB filesize of the GOG version of Reloaded seems much too small to include everything. The original Vengeance download was supposedly about 1 GB, and the Reloaded download is supposed to be around 300 MB (according to the description for Reloaded found here).

The files are in OGG Vorbis format, 160kbps. Perhaps this was changed for the GOG release.
No definitive answer, but a little bit more can be found here: http://www.gog.com/forum/alien_shooter_series/voice_overs_in_alien_shooter_2_reloaded

It's a game mechanic that never quite took hold.

When GOG had failed and was facing imminent shutdown? Even though the same thing had happened the year before and was mentioned a few times that people were on vacation? Oh, also that there weren't going to be any releases for a couple of weeks.
I enjoyed the games if anything for the artwork and enemy designs. Seriously, I'd get on the Zombie game train if FPSs had zombie as cool as these games.
Not sure why people are complaining about recent releases. We did have a couple of awesome classics with Bloodnet and Covert Action. Those two will make me happy for a while.

People will always complain, it's in their nature ;)

What I find particularly funny is that pretty often their argument is "GOG should spend less time on A and more on B" (A and B vary from person to person, be that indies and oldies, PR stunts and releases or whatever else) and I think those grumbles should spend less time on complaining and more on playing games they already own! :D I'm more than sure that hey still have at least a dozen or so games they haven't finished yet.

Hah, thats exactly the example I was thinking of.
Hmm got the whole series on GG but a DRM free edition would be sweet...
