I know all that, and I've said it before (location doesn't matter), and I just want them to replace my L4D for a uncensored version, but obviously this simple request does not seem to penetrate their thick skulls.

You bought a key specifically for a cut version. As I pointed out previously, that is down to G2Play, not anything inherent to Steam.

I'd like to not bash GamersGate.
I sent them an email a couple of days ago asking them if they could release ME2 for download a bit early. Then I realised their pre-load rules say they'll release the game 6 hours before release time. My mistake for not reading them. I shrugged my shoulders and thought, oh well I'll download on the 29th then, no biggie.
Just checked page today and seen ME2 is now available for download, 3 days before it unlocks. Awesomness...downloading now, meaning I'll be all set on 29th.

They sure are friendly folk. Too bad their weekend deals usually involve crappy games or games that have already been discounted a dozen times before. I would love to buy more games from them but most of them are priced a little too high for me.

Are you kidding? They already had Sega and THQ sales which were up to 75% off. I picked up Red Faction: Gurella for €14.99 not to mention a bunch of Sega games like Medieval 2 for €4.99

I just use whatever gives me the lowest price. That sometimes means going back on getting a retail copy.

I already all those THQ games and THQ games have been on sale many times before. I've been an early user of Gamersgate so I've been around the block a few times when it comes to sales ;). Also, I do shop around and most of the good sales on Gamersgate have already happened on D2D, Impulse or Steam as well so I usually already own the game.

So now GOG start bashing Steam, too? :D

But that is so true. many of the games sold here, that are also sold on Steam, simply do not work correctly when bought from Steam. Take the Commandos games, I don't think the Steam versions have ever been fixed to work on modern systems -- the number of complaints about not being able to save or the games simply running too fast were numerous if I remember correctly. And then there's the whole Earth 2160 (if I remember the year correctly) and the JA2 UB fiascoes.

What gog says about steam might be true or not, I don't care, but I hope they don't start bashing or talking down to others digital system just because gog is getting bigger every month. So far they had a smart attitude, and I wish they keep it this way. Keep it humble gog. :)

Actually I think they should get that point out more. While it may be "bashing" Steam, it's also alerting readers of a very very important fact. That is, that GOG do their best to ensure compatibility with newer systems (while generally charging less) whereas Valve are quite happy to throw up games in an unplayable state and sell them. Further to that, Valve will then generally refuse to refund you when you are unfortunate enough to be stuck with a game that cannot be played through no fault of your own.

I hear you. I just hope it won't turn into a permanent jousting.

On another note, once again GamersGate have done something good. They've now confirmed that you can indeed buy EA games worldwide from their co.uk site.
Probably not a big deal for most, but seeing that Valve are stubborn little asses and refuse to sell EA games in Japan (although they are happy enough to advertise games in the Japan store -- for which I have now filed a complaint with the BBB over) it at least means people in my position can in fact buy EA games for a reasonable price. No more having to pay $73 USD for Mirror's Edge =).
