Of course it does. The content is exclusive to the complete edition. Not to GamersGate.
I see. I thought only GG had it.
So, Gamasutra did a story today about the latest NPD report, saying that 48% of PC gaming money is now spent digitally. At the bottom, they listed the Top 5 mainstream and casual game portals by sales. They're estimates, but they seem fairly realistic...and I can't help but notice that Impulse appears nowhere.

I'm more surprised the Blizzard has managed to grab two spots. But yeah, that's formally blown up Impulse's claims that it's the #2 digital distribution service.

I wonder if that's counting subscription fees. If so then it's no surprise.

Where's gog?
avatar
drmlessgames: Where's gog?

The same place as GamersGate. I expect the NDP report is only covering US based services, not overseas ones.
Yup if thats a US based survey estimate then D2D would be a lot higher than GG or GOG.

Crassmaster: 2. Direct2drive.com

What?
I could be wrong on this, but I always had the impression that if you downloaded something on D2D, there's no point in burning it on to a DVD as it will eventually run out of activations or something.

Ah ok, that could also explain why D2D is on the list, while Gamersgate/GOG/Impulse aren't. Could.

They have DRM-free titles now, though they are rare. They're easy to uh... you know... take care of... in that they install without activating, then you can swap the exe. So I don't mind buying from there for digital-only games.
Just greaaat, Singularity and Risen are restricted on steam. ArcaniA still isn't, let's see next to release.

It's worth noticing that this is U.S. only, it's in the first paragraph. Blizzard sales will probably spike to the first spot, this next month. (ok ok, the 2nd spot, steam 1st). :p
Damn, and I've never heard about these 3 casual sites.

Impulse is a US based company, so if it was doing enough sales to make that list, it would be up there.

worldvide or US. only ?
"NPD Group claimed Wednesday that full-game PC digital download purchases reached 21.3 million in the U.S. during 2009, nearly even with 23.5 million physical unit buys, signifying an important shift in purchasing habits."
Brad Wardell's response to that report? Basically, he said it was rubbish. Full quote:
"NPD's numbers on digital don't tend to have much reflection on reality. As much as I would love digital distribution to take over the world, I can't think of a single publisher (including ourselves) that sells even close to a majority of its units digitally. I am a big believer in the future of digital distribution but the numbers we typically hear from publishers is that it's about a third (which is pretty darn good, by the way)."

In other news, the Doctor Who games are finally available in the World outside Her Majesty's Great Britain and Northern Ireland, via Direct2Drive (and only Direct2Drive, apparently). First two episodes in a bundle for the massive price of five bucks.
