Went to go and update The Sims 3 (mind you im using the EA updater) for my wife... and i'll be honest i enjoy playing around a bit as well. Anyway it downloads the patch and installs it to about 86% before it gives me an error saying that there is a file that was unexpected during install and it cancels the patching procedure and now it is telling me that the base game is no longer compatible with the expansion we have installed (which happens to be the high tech stuff pack or whatever it's called)

Good Job EA you can create a crap downloader patcher thing that will break your games for you... Which is one of the many reasons why I cry every time they buy another damn company to (conceivably) destroy the games of. I am Still sad about Westwood and Most recently Bioware... what's next.
I'm starting to lose interest in even visiting the general subforum of the forums. Trolls, giveaways, etc...

You can always go to Steam general forum for a change of atmosphere...

THOSE are forums?! I thought that was a giant Steam Fanboy and Xfire lurker orgy...

I can understand people being upset about Westwood, Origin and Bullfrog but BioWare? If anything EA have been pumping them with so much money that Ray & Greg would make Scrooge McDuck envious. Hell they even gave them Mythic to play with as they wish.

EA have certainly had a dodgy reputation in the past but lately they have been rather positive to their deveolpers.
I do realize they are getting better, and therefore am sorry for the rant. It's good to know that they are actually helping out Bioware, I'm just worried that Bioware might "dissappear" like the other companies did. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't westwood, and bullfrog both just get like... enveloped by the giant EA mass? Course that may have something to do with those companies maybe not pulling their weight or something of the sort.

I am waiting to see if Star Wars TOR is any good :-)

Wow, they don't want us to buy those stupid guides. I don't see anything wrong with it. :D

hahahahahahha
I do wish GOG would sell good old gaming guides...
Even Steam regionally restricts most of its guides. When they first released them, they were selling all the EA game guides in Japan despite them not selling EA games in Japan (and given the nature of guides on Steam, if you can't buy the game on Steam, the guide is unusable).

Nowadays, they just restrict guides even if the game is sold in Japan. Took a lot fighting with support to get them to sell the Just Cause 2 guide in Japan, and they still won't sell the Arcania Gothic 4 one.

Navagon: If you want to make your bitching more official then take it to The SavyGamer Awards 2010. There's a negative category for every positive ones; so let the rage flow free.
And here's the result of said awards

Yay: Gamestation, Amazon, Steam, Valve (publisher? wot?) and Bioware.

Nay: GAME, The Hut Group, Games for Windows Marketplace, Activision and Blizzard.

That's more or less agreeable. Valve's mention as a publisher by so many was a bit questionable. I suppose they publish their own games retail (EA only distributes). But that doesn't seem to be what people are referring to.

The Blizzard backlash was surprising. I was under the impression most people either loved them or just weren't interested.

I'm glad to see they included my positive comment about Gamersgate. Mr Procter doesn't seem to care for them normally.
This is me bitching about people bitching that the new Need for Speed is not on Steam, and their subsequent bitching that Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2 might not be on Steam.

Shop at more than one store, dipshits.

/End of bitching.

It's that rabid Valve fanboyism at work. God knows what Valve have done recently (game-wise) that causes people to still continue to worship them.... Surely it's not something as insignificant as releasing some free DLC for a couple of games that are only exceptional due to how mind numbingly average they are. And surely it's not their continued buying out of other people's work instead of actually coming up with new an interesting ideas of their own?
