King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, and Police Quest series, as well as many other Activision classics, 60% off! Any Questions?

Nowadays, hearing the word <span class="bold">"quest"</span> your mind will probably follow the train of thought inevitably leading to the realms of role-playing games. But 20 years ago? In the 1990s, when <i>Sierra Online</i> was the towering mountain in the landscape of game development, the word <span class="bold">"quest"</span> was almost synonymous with an adventure game. Last week we did celebrate the fact that point-and-click adventure genre is doing almost as well as in the good old days. Today, we take a look back at the best that said good old days had to offer. Retrogamers, rejoice! For we give you the [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_weekend_promo_170114]Winter Quest Fest, with all the quest titles form the GOG.com classic catalog, as well as many other memorable titles from the nostalgic treasure chest that is Activision catalog, with a substantial 60% off discount! Let's take a closer look at one of the adventures that await you, shall we?

Quest for Glory 1-5 is an amazing collection of Sierra's innovative action-RPGs. Each of the five games can be played as a whole but you can also treat the series as one big adventure, as the character and his accumulated wealth can carry on from one game into another. Become a mage, a thief, or a knight and explore the five huge worlds, each based on a different culture and mythology, from Germanic fairy tales, through Arabian and Slavic folklore, right down to Greek myths. Experience the game that set many standards in the "new school" of computer RPG. All that, for a mere $3.99. Let our user Rambutaan tell you a little more about that timeless gem!

Rambutaan's GOGgame Story: Quest for Glory

Note, that the game featured by Rambutaan is the EGA original Quest for Glory, but you get both this and the updated VGA version in our package. Another classic quest series--the one that started it all, in fact--is the long-lived saga known as King's Quest (available in thee packs King's Quest 1+2+3, King's Quest 4+5+6, and King's Quest 7+8, for $3.99 each). Let the classic gaming paladin, our user Rknight718 tell you more about his favorite, King's Quest 3: To Heir is Human!

Rknight718's GOGGame Story: King's Quest 3

Feeling a little hobbity, not in the mood for an adventure? No problem! There's a ton of other games--action games, strategy games, driving games, and whatnot-- in our promo page. All of them available 60% off, until Tuesday, January 21, at 4:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

Does anyone know if the missing King's Quest and Space Quest titles were later added?

Could you be more specific, please? King's Quest 1-8 and Space Quest 1-6 are all there and accounted for. There were no more games in those series. Or did you mean some specific versions of those games?
hmmmmm
bought quest for glory, the only quest series that I enjoyed as a kid :) I do have number 4 (the best one) on a CD but now I can throw it away :D

I was referring to the following versions/games:

King's Quest:

There are also other fan made remakes which is a totally separate story. I am not talking about them since there may be licensing issues.
Already have all the Quests.. Actually I have half of the games (the interesting ones) in this promo. My wallet is safe.

I have the exact same question as damien, I find it odd that PQ1 and QfG1 have both the original and VGA remake versions but SQ1 and KQ1 don't have the same treatment. I do realize this has probably been discussed to death on these forums but I'm still curious.

Edit: Not to mention that the Leisure Suit Larry series on GOG not only has the original and VGA versions of LSL1 but also the VGA and SVGA versions of LSL6!

I would say that KQ4 AGI, KQ5 EGA and SQ4 Floppy can be considered oddities, and the SQ6 interactive demo is not a full blown game, but they would all make very nice additions for collectors like myself.

low rated
I am sorry but I believe this is a horrible set of games. These are games for little children. The squeaking midi-tunes are awful. The stories copy-pasted from old myths. Graphics outdated from the beginning and ugly and blend. Artistic as a dead duck.

Ground breaking mechanics? Phewww! Original? Aargh!

These were my thoughts back then. Twenty years on and they haven't changed.
Nice Promo! Time to finally grab Arcanum and maybe a few others... :)
Quest for glory, space quest and police quest are all just a little too old graphically for me that I can't justify getting them.

However I did pick up a couple games that were semi-interesting: Dark Reign & SpyCraft among them.

Hmm dark reign, I remember this game vaguely, it had some quirky copy-protection that the CD file's took up something like 6 gigs, and then the last few sectors were bad so the entire 'copy to hard-drive' would turn off those who didn't know how to raw-copy it. But that's years and years ago.

Release date 1997, in a day when 6gb was alot. I doubt that it would have gone like that.

The larger limitation was the FAT16/32 FileSystem where you're limited a lot more for individual file sizes (I think a Gig). The actual size of the game installed was about 400Mb if you put it all on. If you could copy the game and then burn it to CD afterwards that twarts the 'copy protection' they were going with.

The copy-protection reminds me a bit of floppy disk protection (1.44Mb) where some files would reference sector numbers way beyond the range of the header read/write, yet the drive would attempt it anyways when you tried to access the files related to those while the software itself wouldn't ever use it, it was a trap. To do the same thing they made the ISO for the disc, then modified the raw sector data to get it to loop the way they did.

Raw copying ignores the logic and gives you the data the way it's suppose to be; Course other copy protection with actual bad sectors for copy protection required a little extra work, which CloneCD did quite well...
Is it just my impression, or pretty much the exact same promo took place from the 8th to the 11th of November 2013 ? (Of course, there's nothing bad in rerunning old promos, so that newer users can benefit, just saying...) At any rate I bought what I wanted from that promo back then, so I can now concentrate on my backlog (which keeps increasing at an alarming rate since I joined GOG).
I'm thinking about picking up all the Quest games but my backlog isn't getting any smaller. Hmm should I or not?
