So I've just recently started modding Fallout: New Vega. It started out innocently enough you know, add a stutter fix mod, than a patch fix mod, than a weather mod... and it kind of... well grew from there to weapon mod mod's, retextures, quests, companions, overhauls... Umm... yeah...

So I was wondering what are your favorite games to mod whether new or old and what mod's do usually install for them? like bug fixes or new quest lines? So far I've only modded Fallout New Vegas with the aforementioned mods.
definitely FO3 and NV (not including the retarded nude mods), Risen has also a nice mod tool that you can download mods automatically from and the program applies it for you. Though most devs doesn't like their games to be modded these days :s
A bit on the old side: BF1942 and Operation: Flashpoint. Maps for Total Annihilation and Warzone 2100, too. And the Baldur's Gate mod pkg outlined in the subforum sticky. That's about it - I'm not real big on the mod scene unless it's needed in order to fix something vital.
Morrowind: graphics/sound enhancements. Lots of those.
Skyrim: something to make it a little closer to the classic TES style
STALKER: Misery covers nearly every aspect pf the game (yep, it is one mod, but it accumulated a lot of smaller ones)

With other games it's something really insignificant (like a skillwheel for Heroes 5), but that trio is heavily modded.
I add mods to most of the games I own that support it:

IWD, BG series, Fallout series, NWN series, Dragon Age:Origins, to name a few.

Generally I go for texture packs, bug fixes, and ease-of-use mods. I'll add other things too if it catches my fancy, but those are generally the ones I look at first.
Favorite games to mod? Minecraft, NWN, NWN II, BG, SW:KotOR, HOMM III.

Minecraft - because it is awesome to mod. Especially during the early days when the game itself was really, really basic. I can't even count how many mods I've slapped on. Just, everything under the sun.

Neverwinter Nights and NWN II - all kinds of mods. Mods to make them play better, fix a few discrepancies, look better, more religions, play closer to pnp, etc. NEN and Xaltar's face and hair packs are great for NWN II. Also really like the NWN II mod where you can play as a kobold. Good times.

Baldur's Gate: EE - Mainly only mod this one if something really, really bothers me; as in it does not make plot sense. So a mod to make non-magical armor break just like the various weapons, and a mod so that low rep characters scale on a discount similar to high rep characters because seriously a shop-keeper is not going to try and chisel Whats'hisface and the Murdering Rampaging Psychos (or the Fiendish Lawyers of Doom).

SW: Knights of the Old Republic - Extra little quest bits, weird second appearances for one-off characters, a few shop mods for what sells what mainly to make the game harder, a few cosmetic mods for the final set of robes.

HOMM III - Ahahhaha. Ah. Made all the high level Conflux units cost 200,000 gold... each. Take that Conflux.

Civ 4 : Many mods are better and bigger than most complete games.
Do you mean actively writing mods or just installing them?

If it is the former, then GalCiv 2. I wrote a pretty big mod for it, which fixes almost all bugs (except for those, that require access to the source code) and rebalances the game in a lot of areas (ships, starbases, planetary improvements, etc.). The work began almost six years ago, and I just released the final version this Monday.
I also wrote a much smaller mod, which adds the option to customise your race with negative ability values (in exchange for more points to increase your other abilities).

If it is the latter, then it's the Infinity Engine-games and NWN 2. I primarily go for bugfixes, ease-of-use mods, better AI, occasionally tweak-packs, and more quests (mainly for NWN 2). Texture packs are usually not my thing, but I make an exception for NWN 2. Several of the stock heads for the player races look horrible.
I modify most of my games, usually to remove the hud. Not much beyond that though.
Vampire the masquerade bloodlines. They have pretty kick ass story mods; it helps that you need community mods to play in the first place after you start its hard to stop. if you go down the list look at how many downloads ravingmalkavian has.
Baldur's Gate 2. These days I basically enjoy installing mods more than playing the game. Whenever I get the urge to start a "new game" in BG2, I always end up adding so many mods that by the time I'm finished with installing everything I wanted I lose interest in actually playing the game.

And just like the OP, I also like to install a few mods for F:NV whenever I play it, (which is quite rare these days) which range from minor stuff like adding weight to bottle caps and a complete GUI overhaul to major changes like Nevada Skies.
Unreal Tournament

If I still had it: Morrowind

That's it really, but I am only counting gameplay mods and not graphics stuff or bug fixes. I try to use those wherever possible.

That is bad-ass. I salute your dedication, skill, and perseverance. +1
Games I modded the most would be Fallout 3, New Vegas, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and Runescape.
Jagged Alliance 2. Now where are the rest of its modders...
