I just downloaded The Witcher 2 from GOG, and installed. At the end it said DirectX needs to update, would you like to update to Direct X 9.c or something.

I quickly did a dxdiag and it said I had 11 so I did not update.

Now when I try to Launch Game or go to Options it says

"The program can't start because d3dx9_39.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

The Witcher 2 uses the DirectX9 component in DirectX11, which still gets updates.

Using the DirectX installer will only add the newer files (such as d3dx9_39.dll) and not downgrade your version:
