OK-- I started with the automated patch which got stuck on the pack0.zip problem. And of course, Witcher 2 would not launch anymore. Then apparently it ruined my registry because after manually downloading all 36 files of the patch off the Witcher site....it now tells me I need to install the original version of the game first!!

So, I went and downloaded the whole game (not just the patch) from the GOG site....twice and installed it in a new folder....twice. And still I am left with a game that will not launch. Neither launcher nor witcher.exe file will make anything happen.

-----------------------------------

Later, I went back and found my original setup for Witcher 2 (original version) and re-installed that and got it to launch.

Then took the 36 patch files (plus the English voiceover files) from the Witcher site and tried to patch it. Installed OK (takes a looong time). Restarted the comp. And still neither launcher nor .exe file will start the game.

Realized that I still had the EE version installed separately in another folder from an earlier attempt, so uninstalled that in case it was causing some registry confusion. Ran the whole patch process again. Restarted the comp. Still nothing.

I'm guessing I'll have to wait a month until the patch the damn thing.

I'd say try contacting support, but apparently their support form is broken too... imagine that. I'm in the same boat as you... a worthless game that can't be played anymore simply because of a shit patch. Awesome work devs. Can I have my money back until you fix this?
Nothing runs here either, cant even patch it. No replies in support. Probably the last time I buy off here.
Looks like another player created a fix by editing the exe file and now I've finally gotten the game to start and play! See here: Game start fix

Yep that one does work, I tried it on my XP Machine, Now I can get the Enhanced Edition working.
That worked for me too. Enhanced Edition stopped running either from launcher or by clicking on the .exe. file, but this workaround seems fine on Windows 7.
