I am currently on Chapter 2, doing the King Hemselt side of the story. Currently I'm trying to finish the quest "the Blood Curse" and "the Eternal Battle."

You're sent to Vergen to get the Commader's sword. So, I crossed the battlefield with Zoltan and used my medallion to lead me to Vergen's entrance. I went through the cave system near Vergen to retrieve the Commanders sword. Next, I played that dwarf fellow in a game of dice to win Yahon's spear. However, now I must go back to the Kaedweni Camp to get the Dun Banner Standard.

But that is my problem: I can't get back the Kaedweni camp. I go back through the mist battlefield and activate my medallion but it only tries to lead me back to Vergen. There is no "blue mist" that you can walk into that will zone you into the Kaedweni camp. So how in the hell are you supposed to return to the King and the camp?

I've tried re-loading the game and going back to an earlier save in the hope that this is a bug, but that didn't work. Does anyone have any advice for me?

you are suppose to get the dun banner first.
all 3 objects must be gathered before going back to Hemselt

Well, getting the Dun Banner is pretty clearly explained.

That said, I admit it was difficult to me to find the path to the catacombs, as it looks like the only available path is through the mists.

Turns out the path is through the Vergen outskirts, which are accessible by going up the stairs to the left of Vergen's entrance. I had only gone up the right stairs and saw it led nowhere, and assumed that's what the stairs on the left did as well.
