killum101: I'm Playing on Dark mode and in The Eternal Battle as the ghosts you get killed in a few hits even if you block.
I'm not at this point in the game, but the only way I could think of to solve this section is with Riposte/Counterattack - which forces me to build a character around that.
Which I actually wanted to avoid, cause the new blocking system makes signs much more attractive to me than swordplay.

It is somewhat frustrating that I have to build my character around compensating for one specific sequence...

[edit] It is actually hard to solve this.

One possibility would be to grant Geralt temporarily riposte if he does not already have that (similar to the tutorial). However, this forces people that may be unfamiliar with the riposte system to play this part in a unfamiliar way, leading to frustration.

Or CDPR could grant the player-ghost the dodging capability. Might not work with animations, though.

Or make the ghosts regenerate? Would only work for the Seltkirk section, though (in the banner section, there are no pauses in combat where regeneration would be useful).

Any other ideas?

If you think about it the Vigor blocking was editable through an xml mod. I bet this new system can be changed too. I'll go ahead and take a look.

That's awesome! Cheers.
It's interesting how the lowliest bandit can completely neutralize your melee damage with parry but you not so much. If anything, it should be possible for Gheralt to negate their parry once in a while. Currently signs and bombs are much better for doing dps than the sword. The balance is horrible.

PS I have gotten to the Eternal Battle quest and without normal parry on dark difficulty it's a no go. And if I can't get through the game, what's the point of all that content. Rebalancing should have been a part of the patch.

Do you have the talent Counterattack/Riposte? You know, where the little sword flashes and you counter, interrupting the opponent and thus taking no damage.
Here is the situation:in dark mode the draugir need possibly six to seven hit so kill it,and the other three guys need two critical hit(back stab or something) and ,if luckily, one riposte to kill them, and I can be killed by only 3~4backstab by ordinary soldier,or 2~3 hit by draugir. No dodge makes the situation even worse. Now my question is:whenever i riposte one of them, the other enemy hit me hard right after i finish my riposte action. And if I am surrounded by all of them and the fxxking firewall,I just wait to die.Anyone got some idea to solve this? All i can say is the unbalance is not just a difficulty design, it is virtually a poor design of gameplay~~

That is only helpful in a one-on-one situation. If you have other opponents around you and they attack while you are performing a riposte, you will take damage.
Could someone post a save? Would like to fool around with this, but do not have enough time to play the game up to this part.

Btw, sure riposte is just useful in 1-on-1. Just means you have to run around long enough until you have a somewhat 1-on-1 situation.

Should be possible... Hopefully

In that quest you are not playing your character until the fight with the draug. I couldn't get through the very first stage of that quest.

I know, I played the game a couple of times ;-)
But riposte does carry over (if you have it), and can be used in that fight.
