@SkipSloan It exists but you haven't been invited. 'Core community' only. Make of that what you will.
My guy. These "old forums" have been a constant resource for advice on trouble shooting older games for over a decade now. Shutting them down would lose us all that.
If you don't like the forums then urge GOG to update them. Otherwise, don't post anything at all. You clearly don't have anything of value to bring to the table.
While I still find this forum useful, I think an official GOG Discord would be beneficial.
Ridiculous request. The forums are extremely useful. Sure I'd like a bit of refinement in the way we post/reply/search, but it's still very useful as it is, and extremely helpful in many ways for the information posted there.
naaah keep em up
you are a bot and everyone who upvoted too!
I even do not want to know who are those 1462 creatures that voted for such a stupid "wish". All of you 1462 voters, better go vote and leave a comment in the section of your favorite games on the gog wishlist! Cmon, go vote for your favorite games and that will be much more useful.
If there were a minus button, this wish would get my vote. :)
No.
Don't use it, problem solved. Others are using it, I've found several helpful game fixes there I would otherwise spend days looking for in other forums.
Forums aren't outdated by the way, what kind of misconception is that.
Since someone keeps voting for this, let's vote AGAINST it: www.gog.com/wishlist/site/keep_the_forum_online_and_do_not_shut_it_down
The forums are essential.
Without the general section, there would be zero sense of community, as well as user-to-user relaying of important information that is not officially announced by GOG itself (such as broken web site functionality).
Without the individualized game forums, users may have difficulty working around a particular issue that might be specific to GOG versions of the affected game.
Good day to you.
Not to be closed, but to be modernised. The software on these forums is at least 20 years old.
Still a terrible idea.
The forums can be a valuable source of information. Keep them.
Following this suggestion, I think they should just add more forums now
We are stronger together. youtu.be/w4PxsTqcZtw keep forum alive!
If you don't like the forum, don't use it. It will be the same as if it was closed for you, without depriving the rest of us from a useful tool.
Don't like it, don't use it.
Why can't people follow this simple solution nowadays?
Hmmm post by someone (certainly not a bot) with no profile page, not suspicious at all.
No.
It would be a massive improvement since the forums now feel like ResetEra or Twitter when it comes to discussions. No point in having a discussion forum when progressive moderators censor those with opposing opinions and only one line of thinking is allowed to be expressed.
No.
GOG, you're doing something right to get a response like this. Be proud. Keep the forums.
Eh, what, why?
More modern forms of communication? You mean like a third party software instead of a forum wich is tied to the service you are using?
What is up with people nowadays wanting to make everything as convoluted as possible?
How do you downvote a dumb suggestion?
i don't support your wish. go somewhere else if you don't want to visit the forum.
FORUM OPERATING x.com/DefenceU/status/1753066422668771429?s=20
If you don't like the forums, don't use them. Don't ruin it for everyone else who uses the forums.
counter offer, don't use the forums, but that wouldn't satisfy your fetish for destruction would it? cause god forbid someone somewhere should be allowed to enjoy something without you having control over it.
Loser.
What for? Most of those forums are used to spread tips and guides of how to run some of the games on modern systems (especially for LINUX-users), used to solve different game-related problems, some of them are related to systems or engines, which means those problems are unique and should be solved for those games or users specifically. GOG-forums are huge base of knowledge in a first place. Just stop turning this base into some kind of politics oriented crap.
kokainhaus.com/ kokainhaus.com/kokain-preis/ ko-tropfen.com/ ko-tropfen.com/diazepam-kaufen/
This is a downvote
I have an assumption that such a narrative trying to spread ruSSians as they were banned from Gog and cannot buy games (except VPN, etc). So do not listen to those bastards, ruSSians do not have right to express their thought because they are slaves in ruSSia, so they do not have any rights at all, especially in other countries!
Ignore all ruSSians in all ways you can! Civilized countries all over the Planet need to be United against dictatorships like ruSSia, iran, north korea, china!!!
Dumb idea and a duplicate to boot
As there doesn't appear to be a "downvote" option, I'm commenting to express my strong disapproval of the request.
Why do you want more censorship? Do you want developers to get away with scams?
I use the forums as a knowledge database when I encounter technical problems with my games. The fact that they're old (and thus have years and years of valuable information such as fixes for even fairly obscure titles stored on them) is an asset, not a reason for obsolescence.
What is with you close the forum people? Just don't use them, if you don't like them. I don't like bars. Guess what, I don't go to bars. Pretty simple.
No thanks, from me. Keep them open and perma-unban conservatives and let them speak. People want to play online multiplayer games with random people. What people don't want is for it to get too laggy or too many people and cause the interstate and their roads outside their home to get traffic jammed. Traditional Server Architecture through Doom and Quake by Texas made id software engine tech was fine before Steam anticheated it up with DRM and caused all the problems gaming never had before.
...And how the hell do you suggest we port this forum to telepathic forms of communication??
Never.
This is so stupid.
Forums are invaluable for sharing knowledge about the relevant product. Is the GOG version missing something? Is it the same version that the other stores have? Does it need special tweaks? How to do X, Y, or Z?
And sure, I could probably get the same information if I Googled "How to skip HoMM3 intro video GOG", but the funny thing is that, googling that ends up directing me towards the GOG Forum for HoMM3, which has decades of collected information about the product I just bought.
Asking to close the forums is effectively deleting knowledge and expression, just because a snowflake feels threatened by them.
What kind of "modern forms of communication" you have in mind? Tik Tok brain rot? Forums aren't obsolete or anything, nearly entire internet is more or less a forum since it's the simplest way of facilitating discussion, information outlet and exchange. Not to mention that they require next to no resources at all, which furthers render your request worthless.
If you feel this way, maybe instead of asking for them closed, just don't use them.
Absolutely not, forums are an invaluable form of communication. "Modern" communication methods are opaque and ephemeral. There are many games here which are not massively popular, and solutions to problems posted years ago are still useful. The whole ethos of the site is "Good Old Games" and "Good Old Forums" are appropriate
There is lots of valuable troubleshooting data on the forums for when games don't work. We absolutely do need the forums.
Never commented in the forum, but can't let it pass the opportunity to respond to this:
ABSOLUTE NO!
Never.
I reject this motion.
People still use Reddit, there folks who use the forums for guides, especially since YouTube as started putting a strain on devices CPU's if someone has an ad bloocker..
You have not made a good arguement why the forums need to be disbanned/discarded; there are no other methods of modern communication. Voice Chat? You got discord, Skype, utox. Text chat? It's built into Gog Galaxy to chat with friends.
Twitter/X? Twitter still exists so does threads, big blue sky and other competitors.
What else do.you want? PSI Telepath communication?
