I still have the preorder cards lying around.
This game was so interesting. It was a strategy game, but it had such a unique dynamic since it also was a card battler. The cards were relatively well balanced, and the factions could be mixed and matched. The resource system was interesting and made sure that most matches would increase in speed and intensity over time, which made quick thinking and decision making vital.
What broke this game's neck was probably the monetization. Today, you would call it predatory and it would be all the way up there with most smartphone gacha games and mobas in terms of how much money you could burn in this.
Still, the fun factor was incredible, and the transition from single player to multiplayer was incedibly fluent, with coop, pve and pvp modes all just being one click away. It was fast paced and frantic, yet approachable and easy to pick up with a well balanced learning curve and enough stuff to do on the side.
If this were to be re-released, I would appreciate if the amount, or at least the cost of ingame purchases would be reduced. I would have no qualms if the system was used to finance part of the online servers in the future, but it would be a shame if this game kept this shady part of its past.
A big wish would be the ability to get the limited edition cards back, maybe in a way so that everyone can earn and enjoy them.
Also, there is a project called "Skylords Reborn", which essentially uses the original abandoned client and works as sort of inofficial server for the game, while maintaining it and adding new content in small doses. I would really appreciate if their efforts could be somehow included into a release.
