Chase H.Q.

Chase H.Q. (1988)

by Taito, Ocean Software, Takeru, Ving Co., Ltd.
Genres:Arcade, Racing
Themes:Action
Game modes:Single player
Story:At the start of each level the player is informed who they are pursuing, a great distance away: They must apprehend the criminal before their time limit expires. The criminal's car is constantly moving away, so if the player repeatedly crashes or drives too slowly, the criminal will escape. At some points during the game the road splits, and the correct turn must be taken, otherwise it will take longer to catch the criminal. When their vehicle is reached, the time limit is extended; the vehicle must be rammed a number of times until the criminal is forced to stop, then is arrested. The game includes five levels. As both the initial time limit to reach the criminal and the time extension to ram the criminal are just 60 seconds, the game is very short - a player who is able to finish the game on one credit will enjoy at most ten minutes of game-play. Interestingly enough when Nancy at Chase HQ (at the start of every level) calls on the radio the frequency is always 144.X (various)Mhz. This is actually the 2-meter band of amateur or ham radio frequencies. Although superficially similar in technology to Sega's Outrun, Chase HQ features significant technical advancements over that title in the presentation of perspective, hills and track splits.Show more

Kirby's Super Star Stacker
Kirby's Super Star StackerKirby's Super Star Stacker is the official English title given to a puzzle Kirby game that was originally released on Japan's Super Famicom system on February 1, 1998. It is a remake of Kirby's Star Stacker, which is known in Japan under exactly the same name as the remake. The game was originally released as a new title for the Nintendo Power flash RAM service, but was released in standard cartridge form a year later. It was intended for international release, but the SNES's lifespan ended in North America and Europe before the game could be localized in either region. The standard cartridge release of the game also came out in the exact year of the SNES's discontinuation in North America, further compounding its isolation. The game was the final title in the Kirby series officially published for Super Famicom.

Night Stalker
Night StalkerNight Stalker (released as "Dark Cavern" on Atari 2600) is a top-down maze shooter designed by Steve Montero and released for the Intellivision console in 1982. Night Stalker was ported to the Atari 2600 as Dark Cavern and released under Mattel's M Network label. Apple II and IBM PC versions were published in 1983. Robots, bats, and spiders chase you around a maze in Night Stalker, which boasts similar gameplay, if some what slower, to the arcade smash Berzerk. Players must pick up a gun that is randomly placed in the maze. The gun provides the player with a certain number of shots. Once depleted, the gun is again placed in a random part of the maze.
