This is a classic retro sim and one I spent many hours on as a kid. You play through 3 campaigns spanning through 3 different eras of air combat. There is also the custom mission editor for all sorts of scenarios. Do you want to try to shoot down a Mig 21 in an old P-51 Mustang? You can in the mission editor. The game can also be scaled to any difficulty level you want from invincibility and unlimited ammo, to a real challenge if you want. This game should have been on GOG years ago, it very much fits the description of a Good Old Game!

Sure, graphics are dated and there are few planes, but I have put on this tons of hours. I had the original and for me this is one of the very best, non arcade, simulator. It includes a mission editor and you could activate some tricks like unlimited ammo, easy aiming, invulnerability or easy landing. I can remind still the voice of Chuck Yeager saying some tips prior to begin a mission, like "Remember, the first is the man, and then the machine".

This was the very first game i got for PC. I got a 286 12mhz PC with a whopping 4mb of ram and a 40mb hard drive. I put in many many hours playing this game. My favorite aspect was setting up your own missions. I would set up huge flights of bombers and attack them over and over. This game is an absolute classic and while its "quaint" compared to modern sim games, its still incredibly fun.

For some reason this was available on our computer lab in elementary school. We were running old Macs, with Apple At Ease, and this was among the games installed among the usual suspects like Oregon Trail and Number Muncher. It stood out as one of the only 3d games available, and it was fun!

My family got the CD for this game as part of a Greatest Hits for Mac collection one Christmas. It went with our recently bought Power Macintosh 6100. Apple famously didn't have many games for it in the 90s, so we were happy get a variety that also included classics like Syndicate or obscure ones like Absolute Zero and The Labyrinth of Time. It was a great flight sim and the only game I remember my dad ever playing a lot on the computer.
Those games also need your vote!

Pro Evolution Soccer 5
Pro Evolution Soccer 5The Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (often just PES5) box-art features Chelsea's John Terry and Barcelona's (Arsenal's at the time) Thierry Henry. The game was available for PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game had a much slower pace than its predecessors which surprised and angered many PES fans but was welcomed by others who thought 4 was too fast. However it was the first to introduce the online mode on all consoles. The game was infamous for the referee halting play for very tedious fouls.

Crimson Skies
Crimson SkiesThe series is set within an alternate history of the 1930s invented by Weisman and McCoy. Within this divergent timeline, the United States has collapsed, and air travel has become the most popular mode of transportation in North America; as a result, air pirates thrive in the world of Crimson Skies. In describing the concept of Crimson Skies, Jordan Weisman stated he wanted to "take the idea of 16th century Caribbean piracy and translate into a 1930s American setting."
