Depth Fantasia

Depth Fantasia (2001)

by Headlock, Enix Corporation
Genres:Role-playing (RPG)
Themes:Fantasy
Game modes:Single player
Story:Depth Fantasia, Enix's latest massively multiplayer online PC RPG, has had its official Japanese release date set for December 12th of this year. The game follows on the heels of Cross Gate, another MMORPG released by Enix this summer. Depth Fantasia will continue Cross Gate's excellent standards, and will help to further open the online RPG market in Asia. Depth Fantasia allows up to four players to join a party. The party will travel to Ritos Island where they will slay demons, collect Life Gems, and restore order to the cursed land. Players will build their characters based on a class system. As with any other class system, characters learn abilities and then pass them on to more advanced classes. To gain levels, one will need to find Life Gems, or fight another player in a duel. Players will interact with a number of NPCs. These characters all have a unique niche in the world; some examples of these roles include fearsome warriors, mystic sorceresses, and holy clergymen. Each NPC will give the player advice and assistance in completing their quest.Show more

Ragnarok Odyssey
Ragnarok OdysseyRagnarok Odyssey is set in an original world based on Norse mythology where a battle is being waged between humans and giants after the fall of the gods had previously separated the races. Players create their characters from over 20,000 possible combinations based on customizable physical features, then select one of six specialized job classes. The game's real-time battles are fast and furious as players can fling enemies skyward, follow them into the air for gravity-defying strikes, then finish off the combo by smacking them clear across the stage. Gameplay is driven forward by story-advancing and optional quests, and up to four players can fight together in online co-op mode.

Phantasy Star Nova
Phantasy Star NovaPhantasy Star Nova will be set in the same world as Phantasy Star Online 2 but will drop many of the online elements and take on a much more single player approach. If the idea of playing without your friends sounds horrifying, the game will include 4-player co-cop play. The title takes place on Planet Machia, a planet where 'Photon' energy is useless. Without the ability to recover energy or upgrade your weapons, players must take survival into their own hands, exploring the planet of Machia and unlocking the secrets it has to offer. The creatures inhabiting Machia are giant beasts appropriately named 'Gigantes.' In order to take these massive brutes down, you'll need to find and hit their weak spots together with your allies. Sega also implemented tweaks based off the Phantasy Star Nova battle demo into the game. After the first demo, tri-Ace increased character movement speed by 1.4x, reduced input delay, fixed issues with locking on to enemies, and fine tuned the speed of the camera, among other improvements.

Xenogears
XenogearsXenogears follows protagonist Fei Fong Wong and several others as they journey to uncover the truth behind mysterious, cabalistic entities operating in their world. The principles and philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung influence the plot, character design, and world of Xenogears. Additionally, the symbols, theological concepts, and devotional practices of several world religions are represented in fictionalized forms in the game. Major psychological themes are the nature of identity and human memory, particularly as these relate to the phenomenon of dissociative identity disorder. The relationship between humanity and machines is central to the game's plot, as indicated by the presence of giant robots dubbed "gears," which almost each playable character can control.

Parasite Eve II
Parasite Eve IIParasite Eve II is an action role-playing survival horror video game released exclusively for the PlayStation. The game was developed by Square and published in Japan in 1999 and in both North America and, unlike the previous game, in PAL regions in 2000. It is the sequel to Parasite Eve and the second game in the series of the same name. Parasite Eve II is set several years after the events in the original game. The protagonist from the first game, Aya Brea, also features in this game as the playable character. She becomes involved with another outbreak of Mitochondrial creatures. Gameplay diverges from the previous game: battles take place in real time and the area of action is less restrictive. The approach is more typical of traditional survival horror games, although some role-playing elements are retained.
