Do a faithful 1-1 of the original with no changes to the game other than updating the graphics and more language options. Don't give it the D&D "enhanced" treatment!
So although I'm aware that it's known for being one of the weakest main Final Fantasy games (I'm not counting the spin-offs), it's a game that has a special place in my heart. I already received this game for Christmas (along with its sequel, which I preferred). It's also this episode that introduced me to the Final Fantasy series (I was also quite proud to have finished it to the end when I was younger). I also really liked the artistic direction and especially the soundtrack, which I still listen to from time to time because it's so masterful. Personally, I've only played the PS3 version, but I heard that the PC version on Steam doesn't work very well.

Legends of Valour
Legends of ValourThe city of Mittledorf is in chaos - an evil cousin of the King is oppressing the people. Your cousin Sven is not evil though, so when he disappears, you head to Mitteldorf to try to track him down. Legends of Valour is a role-playing game using a similar movement system to Ultima Underworld. You walk through the world in real time, passing texture-mapped buildings. The complex gameworld is over a mile squared and includes 40 miles of underground tunnels, as well a thousands of characters getting on with their daily business. When designing your character, you can customise his or her looks, and this affects your likelihood of being befriended or fought. To make any inroads into finding Sven, you will need to join professional Guilds and complete quests. You have spells available to you, but will need to acquire more as the game progresses.

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Lufia II: Rise of the SinistralsLufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals serves as a prequel to Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, unfolding its events ninety-nine years before. The narrative delves into the origins of the series' antagonists, the Sinistrals, a group of super-humans. Players take on the role of the ancestor of Maxim, the protagonist from the first game, as he embarks on a quest after encountering Iris, a mysterious woman. Maxim seeks other heroes to join forces in preventing the Sinistrals from wreaking havoc and destroying the world. Like its predecessor, Rise of the Sinistrals follows the Japanese-style turn-based RPG format with an infusion of puzzle elements. The game incorporates intricate puzzles into its dungeon designs, requiring players to use various items and accessories for solving. Additionally, it introduces the "Capsule Monsters" system, allowing summoned monsters to participate in battles. These creatures evolve through the consumption of weapons, armour, or special fruits. Unlike the first game, dungeons in Rise of the Sinistrals lack random battles, with enemies visibly moving on-screen.
