Story:Yokosuka, Japan, 2112 AD. The young student Kazuki Takemura works as a test pilot with Kirishima Industries, a production company of military battle wanzers (walking panzers), mechanized walking robots with movement similar to that of a human being. Kazuki has just finished testing the combat capabilities of the new Zeinslev prototype in the lab. Finishing his day's tasks he is asked by his best friend Ryogo to help with a company delivery to the Japanese Defense Force (JDF) military based. This simple choice determines where Kazuki is when strange things begin happening in Japan. A large explosion, a wanzer theft, his sister Alysia being hunted, rumors of a powerful weapon, and accusations of involvement by agents of both the OCU and the USN all make the situation more complicated. Kazuki is swept up in a plot of conflicting loyalties and attacked by various factions. He will need to recruit additional characters and wanzers in order to be victorious in battle and investigate leads to uncover what is going on.Show more

Great turn-based tactical gameplay, great soundtrack, and destroyable mech parts to inhibit their functions (e.g. blowing an arm off disables the weapons on that arm). Learnable offensive, defensive, and support battle skills with their own animations to keep things more interesting than the usual "I shoot that guy with basic attack" gameplay. Equip new parts to learn new skills. The story is quite deep, and branches at the very beginning so a second playthrough can have you on the opposing side. Also features New Game Plus, allowing you to carry over your pilot's learned battle skills and weapon experience into a new story. Also has a very original in-universe "Internet" in the game, where you can learn more about the story and game's setting, and even try to hack government intelligence to learn what their plans are, and get tangible benefits such as new battle simulator arenas and more.
Эта игра должна быть обязательно в продаже и это не подлежит обсуждению!!! Вся серия Front Mission является шедевром японских гениальных разработчиков! Каждая из частей захватывает всё твоё внимание!
An amazing mech game! Feels very nostalgic to me, simply because it was the first game I've ever played on my cousin's Playstation. Now I own it on Playstation 3, however I would still love to play a real PC version, maybe even a remaster? I want other gamers to have a chance to enjoy this turn-based strategy with deep mechanics and great story!
As a kid, i printed on paper 50 pages of gamefaqs detailing abilities and armor/weapon piece combos. I was addicted as a kid to this game. You could buy different pieces or armor and weapons for each Mech and...if my memory serves me right, you could also to special combo attacks with your team. Please...make it happen :D
Those games also need your vote!

Xanadu IIXanadu II
Xanadu IIFalcom has pretty much established themselves as one of the finest RPG makers in the business, and Xanadu II - an offshoot of the Legend of Heroes series shows exactly why. The sequel to the first popular Xanadu game, Xanadu II is also an action RPG. This game retains the simple Ys inspired walk-into-the-enemy attack style which works very well and also the side-on action scenes used for boss battles. Being untranslated, the story is a little hard to plot out, but you play Arios and start out aboard a ship in search of your friend, whose own ship (as shown in the intro) was attacked by dragon riders. Eventually you get blown overboard in a vicious storm and end up on a beach near the city of Razan...

Xanadu
XanaduIn Legend of Xanadu, the player controls a young adventurer named Areios. Monsters attack his homeland, and he is forced to flee. After traveling by ship and arriving at the town Bolda, Areios finds out that strange things have been happening in the North Cave near the town. His first mission will be to venture to the North Cave and investigate the matter. Of course, soon Areios finds himself involved in a battle against sinister forces, and commences the longest and most dangerous adventure of his life! The game is an action RPG set in the Dragon Slayer universe, with a gameplay style similar to Falcom's other popular series, Ys. Controlling Areios, the player explores the top-down world, visiting towns and fighting monsters in vast outdoor areas and dungeons. Like in Ys series, it is sufficient to "bump" into a monster in order to inflict damage. Areios gains hit points and becomes stronger by sustaining damage from enemies and resting. His weapons and armor can gain experience and level up. In many areas, companions will join Areios and help him in combat, controlled by the computer AI. The game is divided into chapters; the final stage of each chapter is a side-scrolling/platform level, which Areios has to navigate in order to reach the boss enemy, defeat him, and end the chapter. In such stages, the combat turns into a more familiar action-oriented style, with the player being required to press buttons in time in order to execute attacks and jump. There is a day/night cycle in the game, manifested not only in graphical changes, but also in the schedules of townspeople: when it's dark, people will return to their homes and go to sleep, etc.
