Unlike other shooters, Gears of War is all about teamwork in a big way. All game modes, levels and scenarios are designed specifically to encourage co-operative play, whether it be with A.I. partners or human players (with A.I. teammates designed with specific strengths, weaknesses and personalities.) One of the best games on Xbox back in the day. I have fond memories playing co-op with my dad. Gears 1 actually had a pc port, but it was never released digitally and was plagued with games for windows live. I would love a digital release on GOG without GFWL and with multiplayer too if possible.

I grew up with Gears, seeing my father, then me, play. Awesome experience from end to beginning. A story set in a world where humans are being overruned with strange aline species, mowing dawn humanity, that is something. From the ennemies to the weapons, Gears has a universe so interresting that it's such a shame the 3 original game are not on PC.
The first game that made me choose the 360 over PC gaming. A single preview from a gaming magazine on Liverpool store, showing a horror, tactic game, totally different compared to Unreal Tournament, made for the same developers, Epic Games. The premise made me fall in love, and it has a pretty good campaign. The multiplayer componente was primitive but it was fun.

die hard gears fan right here! i own all the games lol and still enjoy them all but they could of left some things alone cause my feels man! my freaking feels! i know its not for everyone taste and preference but hell the gears series was one of many growing up playing and loved the combat system and story. hands down a great game that needs more recognition.
I heard this game came with the unreal editor, and saw how much cool stuff people made with it, sure i played the Xbox version but many times a game that can be modded or the community can add stuff into it, often become unforgettable as the community keeps it alive and updated.
Why the 2007 Gears of War PC Port Deserves a Comeback on GOG The 2007 PC port of Gears of War was a landmark moment—it brought one of the Xbox 360’s most iconic exclusives to PC, featuring enhanced visuals, five additional campaign chapters not found on console, and full mouse and keyboard support. For many, it was the ultimate way to experience the gritty, cover-based shooter that redefined third-person action games. Unfortunately, due to the use of the now-defunct Games for Windows – Live service, the game became nearly unplayable over time. Licensing issues, DRM complications, and lack of support made the PC version vanish into obscurity—despite its importance. That’s where GOG comes in. Re-releasing Gears of War (2007) on GOG would be a huge win for game preservation and players alike. GOG is known for reviving classic titles, removing intrusive DRM, and ensuring compatibility on modern systems. A version of Gears that runs smoothly on today’s hardware, free of GFWL, and optionally supports controllers or keyboard/mouse would be a dream for fans of tactical shooters. Moreover, this version includes content never re-released in other editions. Restoring it on GOG would allow newer generations of players to experience the definitive version of a genre-defining game. And with Gears being a foundational Xbox franchise, bringing the original PC port to GOG would show respect for its legacy and prove there's still demand for classic, offline-friendly versions of major titles. It's time to chainsaw our way back into the Locust Horde—DRM-free.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
