Great game. Too many hours playing. Loved to buy low and sell high and in the middle a nice sea battle with some pirates and foes from another nations. You could be from Portugal, and that for me was a must. And you needed to buy charts to navigate otherwise your sailers would star a revolt in your ship. Nice game and memories

Finished the game, after months of playing it. Earned a lot of money with an East Indiamen trading in the far east. Being able to play with my home country (Portugal), was a plus. You start as a low life merchant, and rise through the ranks of nobility by scoring points in several categories, so you also need to fight sometimes , either against countries that are at war with yours, or with pirates. The strong point of the game is trading (another "spread sheet" from impressions), naval combat had the novelty of fpv from the ship, while fighting with cannons, but it was no sea legends. As soon as you board or are boarded, it all depended on the number, morale a quality of your crew vs your oponent.
First PC game I bought as a kid. Played it again around 20 years later, and still considered it as a good game. A perfect combination of economy game and a shooter;) One of those games that is pretty addictive - "Only one more port mum!" Good graphics. Worth preserving.

I played the game back when I was in middle school. My English was not good so I was asking my father to translate/help. Together we devised the strategy to buy arms from Liverpool and sell to Bordeaux and buy wine from there to sell at Liverpool. Got filthy rich, traveled the world, bought a house and various trinkets. Tried many years later, it was still playable then (do not know now) but was very fast. I think worths preserving.
