Loved the original one, never got to play this remake! I didn't have an Xbox so I didn't have the chance. I have played the psx one multiple times and I would do the same with this one!
I would like this game added since I never got to play it and adding it would make it accessible to many others like me. I am a big fan of the series and would love to experience it.
I remember really wanting to rent this from my local video store as a kid, but was too young. As an adult, I had finally gotten to see and play the series, except for this version, which I could only watch a lets play of. The new cutscenes in this version make it an entertaining new perspective on the beloved first 3d entry in the Metal Gear Series, and the gameplay has new twists due to borrowing mechanics from later entries in the series. Having this version on GOG would help make this game more accessible as it was only on the gamecube (and the prices it goes for nowadays are insane).
Metal Gear Solid PS1 was the greatest game of my childhood. It created a fire in me that has continued to burn into my adulthood gamer mentality. I did not own a GameCube and bought one in 2013. I spent an overt sum to purchase twin snakes through eBay. I beat it 5 times in a short period, I still periodically beat mgs PS1. Twin Snakes was fantastic all the nostalgia with a fresh coat of paint. This game is rare and hard to find this is peak metal gear and should be preserved for the better good. Metal gear is its own beast or extraordinary and all the games fill a special place.
I actually played the original version as well as this GameCube version. They altered some aspects similar to Metal Gear Solid 2 style game play. A great example being you just met up with Meryl. Suddenly soldiers ambush forcing you to shoot em to survive is much easier here. The famous going upstairs with gunned cameras is also easier. Even the torture section with Revolver Ocelot isn't as much of a button masher. Thus it's easier to get both endings. They changed some of the easter eggs mostly notably your save data with Psycho Mantis. This is also a two disc game that worked amazingly well. Some cutscenes are notably extended to a degree. This felt more like the true definitive MGS1 experience. If you know the original version well you'll do well here. Considering this is the solo GameCube Metal Gear game it's a very solid stealth action game. It's mind blowing a lot of people didn't play this version before. I could even argue ways it's better than MGS2. I strongly felt it's a decent remake of an PS1 classic. You are getting everything plus a little more than you even begin to realize. The original version already on GOG. I do think a lot of people would enjoy this version just as much as that version.
