Pac-Man: Adventures in Time

Pac-Man: Adventures in Time (2000)

by Creative Asylum, Hasbro Interactive
Genres:Arcade
Themes:Action
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:As in the original Pac-Man arcade game, the basic objective of each level is to guide Pac-Man through a maze while eating dots, unique food items, and power pellets that make Pac-Man's enemies, the Ghosts, edible for a limited time. The ability to jump returns from Pac-Mania for bypassing hazards and avoiding enemies. Some levels contain obstacles such as deadly boulders, animals who delay or kill Pac-Man, and explosive projectiles. After every few rounds there is a bonus mini-game in which the player can obtain some extra points (with every 50,000 points earning Pac-Man an extra life). The levels also feature a variety of shapes and architectural features such as cylindrical mazes, canopies, bridges, pyramids, and even walls that allow Pac-Man to walk vertically. The game features more sophisticated events than its arcade predecessor, such as collecting a certain number of pellets to unlock another area of a maze. The game also includes the ability to see the short intermission videos that come before a new level and allow for an option of non-storyline play on specific levels. The game also has the ability to connect over the Internet for multiplayer mini-games.Show more

My old friend from post hurricane katrina burned it onto a disc for me and i thought he was the coolest person I've ever met for that. The game adds a lot of interesting twists to the tride and true Pacman maze formula and I think its one of the best out there. Its super challenging, especailly in the late game. Tons of big mazes to learn and master. It's my go-to game for testing old computers and I would love for more people to be able to play it.

Played this game with my grandma, who I bonded with over video games more than anyone else in my life. She introduced me to Pac-Man, Tetris, and a ton of the old PopCap catalog, and got me interested in PC gaming at a time when all I knew was on console. Frankly, it blows my mind Namco never took the concept of a level-by-level maze game with unique stages and gimmicks further, and I really want more people to play this; there's surprisingly few Pac-Man games like Adventures in Time.
I remember seeing a commercial for this game way back in the 2000's, and I was already familiar enough with Pac-Man to want to try it. Funnily enough I didn't get many opportunities to play it cuz I didn't have my own PC until years later, but what rare few times I did get to play it I did enjoy. I have my doubts they'd release it nowadays cuz Namco had little to no involvement with it, and Ms. Pac-Man is featured in the Multiplayer Mode and some extra cutscenes, but it would be a neat little miracle if it ever does get a proper re-release!

I had this game as a teenager and it was a lot of fun, pretty simple in that it's just classic Pacman mazes with 3D gimmicks, I would love to play it again! Come on Namco!
