I could gush about this game for hours, but nothing beats playing the game for yourself. There are multiple fan servers on PC (Ephiena is my favorite) that are 100% free to play. Check it out.
Despite that, an official PC re-release with an offline mode like the console versions got would be awesome to play. Please give this game the GOG treatment!
I've been playing it for 20 years now ! Hope it will See The Light again in GOG! I swear, if it launches in GOG - I Will buy at least 4 copies of the game!! There are still several servers to play it like Sylverant and Schthack private servers. And I'm still playing challange mode ^^, probably completed it for 100 chars now
This is a huge gap in the preservation of Online gaming. I understand the expense in maintaining servers and software for a game that, frankly, was easily exploitable and hacked.
I have tons of memories of journeying, from my first day on pioneer 2 to the day I conquered the ruins. some kind of official partnership with sega that allowed this game to survive into the modern day would be incredible.
it helps that the gameplay loop and soundtrack are incredibly solid.
I played this much later on the Gamecube and it was still a good time. This is the one that started the whole 3D sci-fi MMO that's still being used as a base for current PSO2. It looked good for the time, had a lot of weapons and/or spells each class could use and a subtly told story with unsettling vibes.
I discovered this game back in 2023 after picking it up on the Original Xbox. If you start this game, prepare to lose at least 1000 hours of your life to it. The community behind it is very friendly and passionate. I hope and pray that this game will one day make it's grand return in an official capacity.

Secrets of the PyramidsSecrets of the Pyramids is an edutainment title that includes 3 modes: a movie, discovery and game mode. The Movie mode presents a dramatic reconstruction of a series of events that could have taken place in Ancient Egypt. The Discovery mode describes Ancient Egypt culture, religion and history.
In the Game mode you will follow Harold Peabody - dreamer, adventurer and optimist - on his quest for the hidden tomb of the mythical Pharaoh Ankh-Re. After finding a way to open the door to the pyramid, the player has to explore the pyramid, find useful items and overcome various obstacles. Stepping on the wrong tile or opening a wrong door may result in the untimely death of the hero. To avoid traps and decipher clues the player has to consult an "English-Hieroglyphics translator" found early in the game.
Secrets of the Pyramids is a short, inventory-based adventure game with a simple interface (with a "look" and "use" icon). The player can only save one game at a time (by pressing the S-key).
