If no other game in this series gets the GOG treatment, at least try and look into this one. Even if you go in with no prior knowledge of the franchise, this is still a solid JRPG that will for sure hook you in by the time you finish the first act, and it's a shame that it's confined to a portable that no longer has a functioning online store.

My 3DS' battery and I are quite stunned that this game actually runs on the 3DS. It's legitimately stunning and genuinely really engaging. It's both very alike and VERY different from SMTV, a nice middleground between classic SMT and the modern evolution that REALLY jived with me. I love this on 3DS but would love this WAY more on a more convenient platform that doesn't stress my eyes so badly.

Shin Megami Tensei IV was the first SMT game I ever completed. It should be noted that Shin Megami Tensei is a series famed for difficult games. One of the positive elements of SMT IV is that it should be fairly approachable even for newcomers to the series. This is made all the easier by quality of life improvements, such as the ability to save the game and perform demon fusions almost anywhere, unlike the earlier games where both could be done only at specific locations. The story itself is effectively a retelling of the very first Shin Megami Tensei. I consider it positive that the developers sought to uphold the series' legacy. All in all, a game that more people definitely should have access to - especially now that the 3DS and its eShop are no more.
this is one of if not the best jrpg ive ever played, having played all final fantasy, fire emblem, other atlus games and more, i do feel this one is the best over all of them, truly a wonder and unique experience

As much as I'd like this... Fellas. They aren't making new ports of these games. These are old PC versions that are getting rereleased through the GOG store. This is a 3DS exclusive, it's not going to happen.
This game getting a modern rerelease or support for other platforms is more of an ATLUS issue, but if on the slim chance there's some kind of renaissance of 3DS games escaping to other platforms, this one should be a priority. SMT IV is a vibe.
This is one of the greatest turn-based RPGs, and it's stuck on the 3DS. The lead cast of characters are all beliveable, a group of friends torn apart by a larger struggle going on around them. But what makes it special is it's unique approach to the "strange man in strange land" approach. Bit of a spoiler: the lead cast, who live in medieval fantasy land akin to 16th century Europe discover that underneath their kingdom is modern day Tokyo. And while the player recognizes the modern items easily, the characters still maintain their charming approach to guns, alcohol, computers and other. It IS a Shin Megami Tensei game, meaning gameplay-wise the priority is on strategy, rather than just outleveling the opponents. It brings the usual MegaTen cast of demons, while providing some improvements to the system, the main one being having more control of which skills demon inherit from the fusion. Persona fans will enjoy this one, JRPG fans will enjoy this one, and MegaTen fans already seem to like this one. And while unlikely this game is leaving 3DS any time soon, if it ever did get a PC release, I would be lined up among the first buyers, just for the chance to experience one of my favourite games on a large screen.
This game was on the reasons I got a 3DS as always loved the SMT series and it was the only way to play it, as still surprised that it was only released for that console. With also being in the UK we didn't get a physical copy, it was digital only from the eStore and with that shutdown, if never bought it then its incredibly hard to play today. There is a lot in the SMT and Persona series that I would love to be able to play again, like Digital Devil Saga etc. but would be nice to have a complete edition of SMTiV that can run on something that may not eventually give up on me.

Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams
Tak 2: The Staff of DreamsThe gameplay is almost identical to the original Tak Game, whereas Tak's weapon is always on hand and mana is represented by feather count and not a meter. The game takes place in various locations, such as tropical forests, canyons, volcanic areas, snowy tundras and other harsh environments. There are also a number of dimensional stages, in the Dreamworld. Tak gets aid from animals, a number of which did not appear in the first game. In this game, Tak's juju magic is triggered by holding down one button and pressing combos of other buttons. Tak also earns juju powers gradually throughout the game instead of having to seek them out.
