GOG would be the only modern platform to have the original Silent Hill available. Isn't that a good reason to bring back this cult classic? Apart from that, Konami doesn't seem to have interest in the original game, so it could be a good oportunity for GOG. Fingers crossed!

There has never been any other version than the one for PSX. You can get it to run and look fine on DuckStation (even at 60FPS and unlocked, but gets jankier the higher the frame-rate), but it's still got some visual bugs/glitches, and a native x86-version will make it last forever and make modding possible. A no-brainer :P But IF they make it happen, the US-version should be used, which was most-untouched by censorship, even in comparison to the JAP-version (not like GoG did with SH4, using the inferior and pointless EU-version. That's why I won't buy it, sadly). BUT then the bug of the missing newspaper-clipping - it was fixed in the EU/JAP version - has to be corrected, to make it kinda the "ultimate" version.

My favourite horror game ! I finished it 7 times, it's a masterpiece, and I think in comparison, Silent Hill 2 is too focused on action at the price of the anxiety and athmosphere.

One of my favorite franchises, and it frustrates me how this game is still only playable with emulation, I played it on the PS3, and still think the experience could have been better, even though, it's still one of best horror games I've ever played. If Silent Hill gets a PC port, with more configuration, resolution support, etc., I will definitely get it.

I met this game when i was a kid, watching my dad playing it, and since then i never forgot it. Silent Hill DESERVES to be brought on GOG.com because you can play it EXCLUSIVELY in 2 ways: owning a PSX (easy way) or emulating it (tricky way). To get decent graphics you have to tweak a bit with its settings. There's no problem for some, but out there not everyone like to tweak, and watching a lot of tutorials in order to play an old retrogame could be frustrating for most people. Now, surely isn't easy to port SH to pc, but if you do, you'll make happy a lot of SH fans, because this game is a true masterpiece of survival horror, that even after 20+ years can still scare (more than some modern games), and it's a shame that is so difficult to access to it.

This game simply helped shape me in the person I am today. It still brings so many fond memories of hanging with my siblings late at night, getting scared out of our minds!

First Silent Hill is hands down one of the most influential horror games of all time. It is a timeless classic, a masterpiece, and proof that hardware limitations are no limitation for talented people. Even 26 years later, it manages to be creepy and scary due to immaculate sound and art design.
Silent Hill has always been an important franchise to me and having them preserved in a way that truly keeps them alive is so important to me. Especially for SH1 which has been unavailable in any capacity for so long.

Silent Hill is one of my all-time favorite franchises. The only one that makes me feel both terrified and fascinated, it's a unique, incredible, and intriguing world, full of macabre stories and elements that will stay with me forever. The soundtrack is breathtaking and the memorable moments I experienced in this game will stay with me for a lifetime. Every corner of the city - school, hospital, hotel, sewers, and more - gives me a unique and terrifying feeling. It would be amazing to relive this experience by playing the native version and having a copy again.

Several things made it click for me. At that time the fear induced by this game was soo substancial. We played it on friends' PS and every one sat silent. I was literally scared to sleep after gameplay session. Tension, adult storyline and a great soundtrack made it stand out forever for me.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Snatcher
SnatcherSnatcher is a cyberpunk-themed graphic adventure game directed and written by Hideo Kojima and produced by Konami. The setting and story of Snatcher is heavily influenced by cyberpunk and science-fiction media, taking place in a large futuristic dystopian city. The story revolves around an investigator named Gillian Seed assigned to investigate a breed of bioroids known as "snatchers", who are killing humans and taking their place in society. The game is set in a primarily first person perspective and uses a menu-based interface that allows the protagonist to interact with his environment. The player can choose to "Look", "Investigate", "Talk", "Ask" and "Move" (in addition to other options) to acquire key items or receive vital information from other characters. The player can analyze items in Gillian's belongings or show it to other characters. During key points of the game's story, the player must pass shooting sequences to defend Gillian from assailants. These shooting segments use a 3x3 grid which the player can target to fire at enemies. A shooting trainer, called "Junker's Eyes", is accessible at Junker HQ that allows the player to measure their accuracy.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's RequiemEternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a psychological horror action adventure, released in 2002 by Nintendo for the Gamecube. It tells the stories of twelve characters that span across the world and two millennia who have to deal with ancient forces of evil which have been trying to manifest themselves in our world. Chapters take place in Ancient Rome, Persia, the Middle East, and modern-day Rhode Island. Throughout the game, the protagonists will have access to several weapons appropriate for their era, from bastard sword & gladius to flintlock pistol and shotgun. The game features an involved Magic system, which allows different spells to be created through the combination of runes. These spells can attack enemies, dispel illusions, and heal both the body and items. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem also has a unique feature called Sanity. If an enemy sees a character, their Sanity meter drops. When Sanity gets low, hallucinations begin to plague the character. Walls bleed, voices whisper from nowhere, the camera gets disoriented. Sanity can be restored by dealing a finishing move on a dying enemy, or with spells or some items.
