Because this particular title has not been released yet, I am commenting on its predecessor: Swords and Sorcery: Underworld. I'm from the old school when it comes to RPGs, particularly dungeon crawlers and blobbers most notably from the 80s and 90s where you create your own characters rather than getting stuck with the stock offerings. Absolutely LOVE this game as it's right up my alley. I've fond memories in my youth playing games like Wizardry, The Bard's Tale, Might & Magic, the SSI Gold Box series of games and their more modern counterparts such as Legend of Grimrock, Devil Whiskey, Legends of Amberland and Dungeons of Dragon Knight. I especially love the ability to insert my own graphics for my characters' portraits, a feature that I feel should be standard faire in these types of games (helps mightily with the immersion). Granted, this is not an "official" feature, but because the graphics are simple PNG files out in the open within the Windows file system, it's easy enough to replace the PNG files with your own, provided you meet the requirements (PNG files with a resolution of 225x225 pixels and 24-bit color). I must've played through this title at least six times over the last couple of years. The hand-drawn, comic book inspired graphics are definitely a highlight and alone are worth the price of entry. Sovereign is meant to offer more of the same with additional features. I am most looking forward to its release, especially on GOG if at all possible. And here's to hoping that Charles (the author) will release Sovereign's predecessor, Swords and Sorcery: Underworld Definitive Edition, on GOG as well.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil SummonerThis is the original 1995 Devil Summoner game on the Sega Saturn and was released only in Japan. It was later ported to PSP in 2005. Abandoning the post-apocalyptic themes of the original series, the story takes place in modern Japan. The player character is an unnamed college student who is attacked by demons along with his girlfriend; they are saved by the timely appearance of a suave demon-hunter named Kyouji. Shortly thereafter, Kyouji is found dead under suspicious circumstances. The protagonist is then trapped inside of a warehouse and murdered by a deranged killer named Sid. Rather than stay dead, the player finds himself in the reanimated body of the slain Kyouji, and escapes from the morgue. With the help of Kyouji's voice, which guides the player from inside his head, the main character joins up with Kyouji's female partner Rei in order to save the life of his girlfriend, who is still in danger.

Laplace's Demon
Laplace's DemonLaplace´s Demon is a Sweet Home-like RPG for the SNES. It takes place in a suburb of Boston in 1924. You can pick from one of six or so classes at the start of the game (Detective, Journalist, Psychic, etc) and you can recruit other members, and it plays a lot like a normal RPG. It also seems to be one of the first games to pioneer a limit-break like system, which is now in use in a lot of games.
