This game is fantastic. The atmosphere, the narrative, the writing, it's all fantastic. While the game has shown its age, it's still an example of how FPS games are a form of narrative art. It also is deeply influential to the games by MachineGames, a studio made up of ex-Starbreeze devs, and the influence can be seen as soon as you boot up their Wolfenstein reboots and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I remember buying this game off Amazon and being blown away by how well it aged narratively. In fact, the story is better than the movies its based on! So, it's a shame that arguably the peak of its own franchise is inaccessible.
Man, 2004 Escape from Butcher Bay has been and always will be since I got a physical copy back in 00-era, my most exhaustively played game of all time. Down to each and every single little guard detail to even the cigarettes boxes or "Smokes" as the in-universe qwerk. This game was my semblance of pure upended escapism. Quite literally, I will regularly escape onto this universe's setting, back in the day when VAs were more than just their known movie/TV show set piece man what an adventure; the gritty unforgiving style for a prison themed journey and it was a good movie/game tie in clause sort of game... After Starbreeze got kicked around by the worst publisher, ... the fact that the remasters were on steam but then later delisted cuz "CEO thinks bottom line is at risk" nonsense! GoG for one final say and/or saving grace I beg of you... please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, RESTORE THIS GEM OF A GAME. It sadly cannot be played anywhere else my physical Xbox copy is too scratched up, and while I do have a PC copy I just wish its two major oversights were cleaned up. Really, the 04 game is great as I miss the original music score and ambiance and prefer it over the remaster and truth be told? This wouldn't be difficult to have it's problems addressed... just: 1. the mouse centering issue and 2. 60 hz wonky physics and frame rate via an Nvidia inspector tweak and that's it.

Impeccable game from Starbreeze here, and one of the defining FPS games for the original Xbox. Vin Diesel elevates the already fantastic gameplay with an endlessly memorable performance. At some point this game became abandonware, which is an incredible shame because I would love to own it somewhere reliably.

One of the best movie-games. Excellent balance of stealth and action. Simple straightforward old-fashioned fun gameplay without distractions. Game is available as abandonware I think but has severe compatibility issues. Just upgrade graphics and add controller support/glyphs. Don't change even one thing about the gameplay. As someone who has been gaming for more than 35 years, this one always bring pleasant memories of the time when video games were video games, not senseless bloated cash grabs.

When I was a kid, I watched Pitch Black, when I heard this game existed I bought it. Still have it for xbox and then when they came out with it for PS3 I snagged it as well. Would love to see this game come to PC

I played this game back when COVID lockdowns hit and had a fantastic time with it. Atmospheric, brutal and tense stealth gameplay - would absolutely love to see it and the sequel being up on GOG again!

Simply one of the best games released on the original xbox. It was way ahead of its time. With Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sharing a lot of the ideas originally from Escape from Butcher Bay there has never been a better time for a come back!

This game really needs to make a remastered comeback, together with Dark Athena. I played these two games a lot back in the late 00's. Unfortunately, as with games that are based on certain licenses, they expire. It is still available as an abandonware, but that is a legal grayzone.

This was my favorite game to watch my dad play when I was a kid, it's just full of a lot of good memories and it's a shame I and others can't experience that anymore

I want DOOM 3 Fast and Furious edition resold so I can have Vin Diesel threaten me in H-Fi and flex in 4k. It was the first game I played on the OG Xbox, It was a solid game but fairly jankie. It still has some of the best lighting of the 6th generation of consoles even surpassing DOOM 3 and Fear.
Those games also need your vote!

The Terminator: Future Shock
The Terminator: Future ShockThe Terminator: Future Shock is a first-person shooter computer game released by Bethesda Softworks in 1995. The game depicts Judgment Day as happening in 1995, then the setting jumps forward to Los Angeles in the year 2015. The gamer plays a human escaping entrapment by Terminators. After escaping hostile enemy territory in the first mission, the player meets with John Connor, the leader of the Resistance. From that point on, one plays as a Resistance fighter. Skynet's uprising in 1990 has left most of humanity dead, with control in Skynet's hands. All around is death and decay, scattered with remnants of a past society shattered. Future Shock is played in the first person perspective at all times. Each level in the game requires the player to solve a number of objectives before continuing to the next level, while fighting enemy robots with a wide variety of guns and grenades. Another obstacle in each level is the harsh terrain, as many areas contain too much radiation for the player character to remain alive. The terrain is navigated in three ways, 'on foot', in a jeep with a mounted cannon, or in an Aerial Hunter-Killer.

Giga Wing 2
Giga Wing 2Giga Wing 2 (ギガウイング2?) is a 2000 vertical scrolling shooter arcade game developed by Takumi and published by Capcom on Sega's NAOMI arcade system board and later ported in 2001 to the Dreamcast console. The arcade version is notable both for its excessive scores (scores in the quintillions are not unheard of), and for using a horizontally aligned monitor (much like Treasure Co. Ltd's Radiant Silvergun), something that is considered rare for a vertical shooter.
