One of two adventure games largely taking place in an odd bar that I definitely played before I could legally go to one (the other is the also-excellent-but-for-different-reasons Callahan's Crosstime Saloon). Despite the aforementioned similarities, The Space Bar is a very different kind of game. There's more of a sense of menace/danger, as you're hunting for a murderer whose face and motive are unknown to you, and the crowd they've chosen to hide in is literally so alien to you that from the jump you feel like it could be anyone in the joint. And the brilliance of the game is, to crack the case, you actually get to step into the unfamiliar boots/roots/tanks of its characters and experience their lives in ways that are equal parts empathetic and absurd. Though there is an overarching story, it also feels like an anthology about different beings navigating challenges in their pasts, which is fascinating. This game is absolutely worth playing if you like hard puzzles, mature (but not prurient) humor, and imaginative characters. Plus, a digital release on GOG would eliminate one of the most annoying things about playing the game on CD-ROM, namely the disc-swapping (which was considerable).
Long ago, in my grade-school days, I got addicted to point-and-click adventure games. Scifi channel was still scifi, not syfy, and they played a commercial now and then for a pun-titled game called "The Space Bar." A zany-humor space-based point-n-click adventure, right up my alley. I played it, and it was hard as heck, but hilarious, wonderful, creative, with tons of exploration and experimentation to be had. You had to take good notes, as with all hard point-n-clicks back then. Still, it was doable. Once in a blue moon, I revisit this classic of my childhood, though it is harder on modern systems. Sometimes I'll just rewatch a longplay on youtube. Still, it would be far better if GOG did an updated, modern-system compatible version of the game. I think the humor, the wit, the puzzles, and the world set up by this game would still land with players today. The voice acting was good, too. Just be prepared for a difficult challenge to your puzzle-solving skills.
Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-RevisThe 9th core Atelier game and the first of the two Mana Khemia games.
The game's main focus is on the lead protagonist, Vayne Aurelius, the son of a legendary alchemist named Theofratus who had disappeared sometime after Vayne's birth. Since then, Vayne has led the life of a hermit, his only companion being a Mana in cat form named Sulpher. Vayne is invited to the Al-Revis Academy for alchemy training by Zeppel, one of the professors. He is quickly indoctrinated into the school by becoming part of an atelier led by Flay Gunnar (an older student who is known as The Defender of Justice) along with two other students, Jess (a clumsy girl who is nevertheless adept at alchemy), and Nikki (an impulsive beastgirl). They are soon joined by Pamela (the school's resident ghost), Anna (an 11-year-old master swordsman), Roxis (the son of a famous family of alchemists who is quickly forced to join the workshop by Flay), and Muppy (an alien the group discovers on an assignment). The eight of them are able to succeed at completing assignments, learn the skills of alchemy, and allow the workshop to prosper.Fantasy

Arcturus is a Korean-made role-playing game in Japanese style, similar to Grandia II in visual presentation. The player can choose between two prologues chapters (either Elluard's or Sizz's), after which the two stories converge. There is no overworld in the game, and areas are interconnected. Battles take place in the same environment as exploration, and are turn-based. The player can navigate characters on the battle field and also take their speed rankings into account, as executions of attacks and other moves depends on them.
Magic can be learned by certain characters and is divided into four elements: Water, Air, Earth, and Fire. Casting spells requires a certain amount of real time when in combat. Characters learn new spells by repeatedly using available ones in the correspondent category. Those who do not have access to magic can execute various special attacks with their own separate point gauges. In addition to HP, characters also have "barrier points", which are reduced first when enemies damage them.Action
