Tonic Trouble

Tonic Trouble (1999)

by Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Entertainment
Genres:Adventure, Platform
Themes:Action, Comedy
Game modes:Single player
Story:Tonic Trouble is a 3D platforming video game by Ubisoft Montreal. The story follows the main character, Ed, after a magic potion spills on the Earth and causes vegetables to become living killers. The game was received poorly; critics cite poor controls, a wordy exposition, and sloppy graphics (on the N64 version). The N64 version of the game is a port of the PC version with noticeable differences, such as a substantially different opening due to the lack of processing power needed to render cutscenes, and different music in certain places. The game is often compared to another game published by Ubisoft called Rayman 2: The Great Escape, because both are 3D platformers, both have main characters of a similar design (hands and feet without arms or legs), and both were released around the same time.Show more

This game rules. Often seen as an 'inferior Rayman 2', it's actually a very nice little platformer that feels like a blend of Rayman 1 and 2's vibes, but with more focus on wacky puzzles. Definitely worth preserving!

Tonic Trouble is truly a fascinating game! It's a fun and simple platformer with TONS of charm. I love the characters, the world and the story.(Especially the PC version!) More people should check out this game. Especially if you're a Rayman fan!

A madcap adventure that, truth be told, I was never even able to finish! I was stuck for so long on the sledding, then stuck for so long in the Vegetable HQ, and then found this perfect groove that saw kid me making it as far as the final world. Before once again getting stuck, and foolishly loaning the game to a friend. My copy is gone forever, and sure wouldn't play on a new PC anyway. The world needs to remember this game. It's bonkers and sticks with you even if you never saw the end credits.
While I may not be as familiar with Tonic Trouble as I am with Rayman, I believe this underrated gem deserves to be played by more people and it would be great to experience this classic that basically acted more or less as the blueprint for Rayman 2.

Loved this game, I'd sure like to get it onto my gog shelf! It's like more wacky, self aware Rayman 2. And R2 is my favourite game of all time, so what's not to like in Tonic Trouble?

I still have the original physical disc from this game and on todays PC i can't even run it :/ Please make it possible to play it again! it's a shame that this was never ported to modern systems+ the old Rayman games...

It really cool, light, full of puzzles, tomatoes, traps and really interesting enemys. I really like thi this game, and honestly want a chance to finish it some day, my CD with this was gone after I send it to a friend and he lost it.
Used to play this when I was young, I still have the CD but it doesn't work anymore and its a pain to setup on modern hardware. I for one like it more than Rayman 2, I just find the environment way more charming
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Fable: The Lost Chapters
Fable: The Lost ChaptersFable was expanded and rereleased as Fable: The Lost Chapters for Xbox and Windows PC platforms in September 2005. The game was later ported to Mac OS X by Robosoft Technologies and published by Feral Interactive on 31 March 2008. The Lost Chapters features all the content found in the original Fable, as well as additional new content such as new monsters, weapons, alignment based spells, items, armour, towns, buildings, and expressions, as well as the ability to give children objects. The story receives further augmentation in the form of nine new areas and sixteen additional quests. Characters such as Briar Rose and Scythe, who played only minor roles in the original game, are now given more importance and are included in certain main and side quests. Other character-based augmentations include the voice of the antagonist, Jack of Blades, sounding deeper, harsher and more demonic, and the ability to uncover (and resolve) the murder mystery of Lady Grey's sister. The updated edition of the game also applied fixes for certain glitches, such as the "dig glitch," in which the protagonist would move backward each time he used the shovel, pushing him through solid objects and sometimes trapping him.
