Story:Top Gun: Fire at Will is a flight simulator based on the movie of the same name. You take the role of Maverick and must pilot your F-14 Tomcat with your RIO Merlin in the backseat through a series of missions that begin with the Top Gun School in San Diego and continue with conflict zones in Cuba, Korea and Libya.
Full motion video cutscenes with live actors play between many of the game's fifty or so missions, with James Tolkan being the only actor to return from the original movie.Show more

This was my first game on the PC, that's where it all began for me. It's a great game based on the movie of the time. I would be very happy to be able to buy an executable version from GoG again. The game would be a great childhood memory for me.
This is another game that showed me the potential of how good PC gaming at the time could be. It has live action sequences and excellent storytelling throughout the missions, with dialog between you (the silent protagonist "Maverick") and your wingman "Merlin" and the rest of your flight squad. You play through training missions which are way more fun than they have any right to be, working through the competition for the Top Gun trophy, just like in the original film, before you get sent off to put your skills to the test in several campaigns. Not to mention it has an excellent soundtrack! This one has "flown under the radar" for far too long, let's hope we get this brought to the GOG collection soon!
Loved the movie, loved the game. I still play mostly flight games. Who doesn't want to be Maverick kicking butt in a sexy F-14? Add some corny FMV and a new story and you got a nice package!
It is my favorite flight game of all time. There are a lot of details and different ways to win. You can even run out of missiles and guns, flee to your carrier, and they'll shoot down any aircraft pursuing you. It's awesome. Also the best combat... i love it!

The game is played from a first person view looking out from the cockpit of the Raven. It is in true polygonal 3D. Aside from a graphical and aural overhaul and the addition of cutscenes, the remake's gameplay and level design is virtually identical to the original, right down to the placement of each and every enemy.
