We used to play it together with my brother as a kids - one was "steering" the robot while the other was operating weapons/deploing mines/power grid. On new game we switched and so on. We spent many hours plaing this game, that was really fun. I remember it as raw place becouse of simple graphics and no music ingame (as simulators had that time).
This game was the foundation of my love for both Mechs and simulators. The level of detail, the fact that pretty much every component of the cockpit UI was functional, the tactical differences between the 'bots... I would love to see this brought forward to run well on modern machines, and re-live one of the earliest non-edutainment games I ever spent significant time playing. Maybe it could even provide enough interest that someone would expand on the setting with new games, or other media. We could always use another contender in the Mechwarrrior-esque big robot games.
I clicked "feeling lucky" and actually got a game I played as a kid. Foundational game for the mech genre. Really interesting to see what kind of modding could be done with it.
