After the news of BG3 coming out, I decided to buy the EE version of BG1 and installed the "old" version (polish language).
Is the BG1 offered by GOG really unaltered? I loaded some of my old saves and played about for a moment, but I noticed that there was much less kids around cities and if I found one near Nashkel, they were "invicible". Is the GOG version of the game censored?
Why do you want to kill kids?
I see nothing wrong with simply *noticing* that an NPC is invincible and making a question about it.

@OP: I have verified that both Nashkel and Beregost have the same number of NPC's, same number of kids - compared to vanilla, that is. Keep in mind that many commoners (in this case, the kids) won't be there during night time. They only exist during the day. So that might be the reason. The kids in Nashkel are also not "invincible" at all... Not sure what happened in your game...?

Thanks! I remembered that they were there only during the day, but after wandering around Beregost for a while I didn't see any kids. The version I'm playing is 1.3.5521 and I don't have any mods installed.
I might try to get to Beregost with a clean playthrough and see what happens
I've done some more experimenting and here are my findings:
1. Installing game in English - kids are not invincible
2. Installing game in German- kids are not invincible
3. Installing game in French- kids are not invincible
4. Installing game in Russian- kids are invincible
5. Installing game in Polish - kids are invincible

So this has something to do with the language chosen at the installation. But, here's some additional findings!

1. Installing the game in Russian and then changing the installation via GOG Galaxy to Polish - invincible
2. Installing the game in English and then changing the installation via GOG Galaxy to Polish - not invicible

I do wonder how this all works!

Actually, there are NO KIDS in Beregost exterior. None. Only adults. There are a few in some of the houses, but none outside. So you don't have to worry about this. I considered mentioning this in my previous post, but changed my mind.

As for the invincibility issue, I must say that's one unusual one. Based on your description, maybe there really is some sort of hidden modification there. I'm guessing this is done by patching the creature files during installation. Simply changing game languge via game settings won't repeat or undo this process.

GOG version also has added music unused in the CD version.
Gog version in Polish seems to be based on censored German version. No bloodstream is present in the intro sequence that flows originally on the pavement. I also havent seen exploding ogrillions. This sucks.
