I'm running Baldur's Gate 1 in the BG2 engine after following the GOG modding guide, so I'm not sure which game I should post this under. Anyway, see the title. This all started pretty much out of nowhere around the same time as some other major wonkiness with my computer. After a system-wide driver update, a bios flash, and redoing my overclock from scratch, everything else is working again, but the game still grinds everything to a halt after two minutes.
Here's what happens. The game launches and loads just fine and dandy. After about 2 minutes, it freezes and starts repeating a one-second audio loop. During this time, the keyboard is still responsive. Attempting to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del out of the game to open task manager results in a black screen and a complete system hang, during which the caps lock and num lock keys cease to respond. The only way I've found to get through it is to reset the PC.
Needless to say, this is profoundly annoying. Is this a known issue? And if not, what can I do to start chasing the problem down?
