As the title says I am having trouble finding places in the story. This is my first time playing this game, and the only reason I found Nashkel is because I was told that it was simply "south". I now need to find High Hedge and I assume it's north, right? I went all the way to the top of the map but can't seem to find it. I just finished the Nashkel mines part, and I now need to give the ore poison to some mage in High Hedge. So where is High Hedge and is there a detailed map of the sword coast any one can give me? Thanks.

High Hedge is immediately west of Beregost. Here's a hint: when you are in an area, move to each compass point edge and 'view' where it leads to. This will reveal the map location, but you can still cancel out of moving, if you wish. It's a good habit to get into for planning your travels. I'm not going to provide a map or link to one, because exploration is such a huge part of Baldur's Gate original.
This is a good map.

If you want to go properly old school on the maps, you can download the maps that were originally included with the game from the Game Goodies. High Hedge is even on the map, but I had to squint a bit to read it.
