With my new laptop, the selection of games I can comfortably play has increased, and now includes the likes of Hollow Knight (and I plan on getting Silksong when/if it actually comes out here; no indication if it will come out in 2021) and The Alliance Alive.

Another one will be to try to make a game on my own.

(Of course, once the community bands I normally play in start up again, it might get a bit harder to do everything else I want to do, but I do miss them.)

Dogmaus: This is not about 4K!

teceem: Aren't there any games with 8K textures yet? (I'm pretty sure that 8K resolution support already exists for a while)
I still play max at 1080p 30 FPS or less for newer 3D titles on my poor laptop, and I'd rather have 720p and more around 60, but most things I like are old or pixel art stuff so...I wonder if I'll have something better on my next laptop, like a screen with a higher refresh rate and resolution, but it's nor a necessity nor anything I can afford now :) I confess I'd like to have something like Oculus one day and maybe build a desktop pc again, but that depends on a lot of stuff that's more serious than games.

And a Celeste troll level ;)
What kind of game would you make, an RPG?

some Shovel Knight DLC I've been eyeing.
avatar
Dogmaus: I found both really hard, not sure if I can manage to finish them in 2021 but I might have another shot at the Shovel Knight DLCs, as I like the characters more than SK himself. Also, there's a new game coming from Yacht Club Games, Cyber Shadow... I'd like to have cleared AK before I approach it. :)
AK? Did you mean to type SK, or are you talking about a different game entirely?

It would be an RPG. Mechanics would resemble the SaGa series, albeit with my own twists and refinements (and would most resemble SaGa Frontier 1). The plot would be either queer or an excuse plot, or perhaps both (think "rescue the princess with a female main character"). I'm also thinking I want to de-emphasize humans in this game in order for the more unusual growth systems to get more exposure.

i knew this from all your spam questions
I have a lot of games to play thanks to my new system, plus some older ones I want to re-play.
I think it's quite impossibile I can play all of these in only one year but here's the list:

All games I get for free from Epic
Alien isolation
Tyranny
Pillars of Eternity
Tropico 5
Metro 2033 Redux

and

Batman Arkham Asylum, City and Origins
Soma
Wasteland 2
One Total War between Empire and Shogun 2
Metro Last Light Redux
The Turing Test
Kholat
Layers of fear
Darksiders Remastered
GTA IV Complete
Hitman
Borderlands GOTY
The Talos principle

I've already completed Ryse Son of Rome, Crysis and Warhead.
I'm not used into making specific plans, but i'm going to dedicate some more time in cRPGs (mostly replay my favourite ones) than i did in 2020; i've only played Morrowind that year.

Also, i'll leave Alpha Centauri aside for a while and get back in Civilization IV, maybe check out the various scenarios provided with the game.

Other than the above, i'd like to get into Shenzhen I/O and/or TIS-100 at some point.
I've been meaning to finish Planescape: Torment for years now, but it has just never happened. I'm totally doing it this year though. I've also bought the Switch version at some point, so I even have it portable now.

And I should finish Final Fantasy XIII. I've been playing on the same save for years, and it has transcended Xbox console generations. While it has a few things going for it, I think the game is really boring, and just a slog to get through. I'm very close to the end now though, so hopefully I can clear it and move on to the sequels.

Don't tell me, I had it on disc and also rebought it here but...I really find hard to complete RPGs! I wonder how a game like this played on Switch or Android :O as I've seen there's even Android version of this and other classics like BG. Maybe better on a tablet if not on pc. For some reason they didn't make the saves portable from pc Enhanced Edition to Switch, but I've read that some with a hacked Switch managed to do so, still a bit impractical to play on both, I think Beamdog should have dealt better with this. I think I'll stick to the classic edition I already have.
All my answers I wrote to various posts last night on my phone are vanished but I am enjoying the variety of all posts and games!
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, when it comes out and then until I finish it twice (Renegade and Paragon) and I mean 100% twice! ;-)

Already fulfilled almost every plan in the last decade, but wish I had stable and safe situation to replace my really, really ancient GPU (GF650) with something better. And quiet. Don't need these fancy RTX stuff. And maybe bigger SSD.

From other plans:
-play Deus Ex with some mods, sadly The Nameless Mod 2.0 is still far from completion and it's most likely Revision-exclusive
-play Gothic 2 with some mods like Dark Saga, not Returning2, that's a bloat for years.
-hoping that more Fallout projects gets translation - Sonora, Olympus2077 etc.
-some large RPG to play, this time Dragon Age Origins with DLCs, couldn't get into it before
-play one of these UFO/X-COM clones like Xenonauts and UFO Extraterrestials
-waiting for Arx Insanity and Fallout Frontier release
-give a try to some untouched/barely played games that were passed for other titles, even though I don't buy new games there is still something waiting for me...

I intend to buy a new gaming PC, hopefully a (XMG) gaming laptop, this year. The sooner the better, but I first want to see if there are any new usable mobile GPUs coming out from NVidia and AMD.

Other than that, I am still totally fine with 1920x1080 resolution with my games. 4K and 8K resolutions are just not worth it, especially for retro-pixel indie games.

yes, me too, I mostly play older games and pixel art stuff, but with the most recent games I've played this years I had to compromise: 720p and 60 fps or 1080p and 30 fps or less. That is to say Ghost of a Tale and A Plague's Tale: Innocence - Hellblade is a different story as I think the Microsoft store version was fixed to max. 30 fps, but I hope the GOG version doesn't have this problem. In the future I'd like to get a "gaming" laptop with a highter frame rate and resolution but it's not a must.
Don't think I can name any specific games that I'll try to play because I have SO. MANY. GAMES. in the backlog.

I guess I'll resolve to play (and hopefully finish) at least one game per month other than No Man's Sky.

It plays very well on Switch. I'm one of those people who finished Baldur's Gate seven times and has to play it everywhere, so I bought the Switch version when it came out. There is no touch screen support (missed opportunity imo), but the controls are very intuitive and well adapted for this type of game.
I was able to eliminate all of my backlog in 2020 by Nov. Here is my currently list of games that I received as a gift and will be playing for 2021:

Enclave - GOG
AER Memories of Old - GOG
Pharaonic - GOG - 90% completed
Prison Architech - GOG
Shadwen - GOG
Wild Woods - itch.io - Endless arcade
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 - Stadia - 50% completed
Anima Gate of Memories - GOG
Another World 20th Anniversary Edition - GOG
Apotheon - GOG
Shing - GOG
Tonight We Riot - itch.io - 40% completed
TANGLEWOOD® - itch.io - 10% completed

Multiplayer wise, I'm still playing the following games:

The King of Fighters 2002/The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match - Fightcade/GOG version
Invisigun Reloaded - itch.io
Super Bomberman R Online - Stadia
Pacman Mega Tunnel Battle - Stadia
