GOG.com: What games would you add to the list? Let’s continue to the conversation over on our forums and let us know what your favorite space titles are!
Freelancer?
Another event? Is this week special in some way that I have forgotten?
high rated
It's a shame the Mass Effect series is not here, as that would suit this space high that GOG seems to be on very well.
X-Wing and TIE Fighter, which are the grand-daddies of Freespace.
And of course the Wing Commander series (+ Privateer), although I find them hardly playable (didn't like them that much in the past either).

Star Control needs to be mentioned too.

When it comes to 4X there is still no better game (IMO) than Master of Orion 2 (the MoO game is pretty good, though, and indeed very pretty ;-))

When we leave GOG for a moment we can't ignore the legendary Elite and its sequels Frontier and First Encounters. Of Frontier there are great free remakes here: https://pioneerspacesim.net/#slide0 and here https://sourceforge.net/projects/pioneersp/

And there is, as mentioned above, Freelancer.
No FTL?! Blasphemy!

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

Recently tried Stellaris and quiet liked it, but I don't think a whole galaxy of DLCs is something many people will be thrilled about. ;)
Both Freelancer and Tie Fighter or the entire X-Wing series.

Sins of a Solar Empire with its vast library of awesome mods.

Since its not restricted to space sim I would add Battlefront 2.

Its not in space, but it has aliens. I would add Xcom EU and EW.

I really need to play this one day - do you know of a widescreen mod?

It supports modern screen resolutions out of the box.
The X series is one of the greatest series of my gamer life. I only played through first in '99 to X3 - Albion Prelude though, but still...

Then I missed something when I started it... some years ago. Thanks for the info, downloading now.
