I need help with finding a game I once liked. I only remember it was a point and click adventure with rather hard puzzles, where you were trying to find a missing scientist who created a machine that alters your consciousness (using herbs and sound resonance) and basically sends you into a different (trippy) world, where staircases and general building rubble float around in space, there's trams in the desert and other surreal whatthehellishness. Oh, and just btw it makes you addicted and kills you slowly..

I think it's Russian, it came out in the 2000's and has this awesome art style (it looks like if you took photos from urbexing in Eastern Europe, made a surreal collage out of them and slapped an "old-n-torn" filter on that because this doesn't look industrial enough). And the name sounded a bit Latin (ended with -um, I think). Box art had just a grey head with a glass opening instead of its left eye on a black background.

I know this is a heap of unhelpful information, but maybe someone will remember this obscure little piece. Please, it's burrowing in my head and doesn't want to leave!

No, not Myst. I'd say trippier and scarier.
Perhaps something like Sanitarium? - nvm doubt it :P
