It appears when you buy almost any of the Close Combat games for sale, it includes this goodie. And it appears to state that it works on Windows 7 and 8 only.

I just wanted to post this to inform others that I am running a Windows 10 laptop and the original game works fine. Including the amazing videos (I had forgotten about them LOL).

The only issue I "see" is that things seem to happen fast... don't know if that's because computers are so much faster today or if it's just some bias perception on my part, but man I don't remember those little dudes moving that fast back in the 90's. lol.

Anyway.. not sure what's going on, but if you're running Windows 10 and bought a Close Combat game.. don't completely give up on the original included as a goodie... it's running fine on my Windows 10 Laptop.

Yeah... lol.. they do appear to be doing at least 90! Fast little dudes!
Unfortunately the Saint Patrick's day sale drained my game budget for the month and having bought A Bridge Too Far previously didn't get me this. Hopefully I can get it next month.

You should check again. It's listed under my copy of A Bridge Too Far (see screenshot). It doesn't show up as a separate game in your account.. instead is a downloaded goodie on the right side of the screen of the other purchased games like manuals and reference cards and stuff. It is a ZIP file that once you unzip is a GOG setup file for Close Combat.

Thanks. I don't know why they hid it away instead of just adding it to the library though.

I dunno either.

I should state for others to clarify though.... I installed the game on this Windows 10 laptop and it ran fine... however.. I only played around in the boot camp part of it. I didn't play any of the campaign/battles so I suppose it's possible there may be issues there but everything worked so flawlessly it's hard to imagine how. Everything worked perfectly. Mouse, sound, videos, no hangs, very responsive,... as I said the only thing I "saw" was it seemed like those little GI's sure did move fast. That may in fact be an issue... or it may just be a perception bias on my part. It was hard to tell just fooling around in the Boot Camp part.

Later I'll probably try a battle and see if the "fast' movement affects game play. Seems if it were a speed thing that would be more hardware related than OS related so it seems that would/could also be an issue in Windows 7/8. I dunno. Anyway, it installed, and what I ran, ran fine. Flawlessly in fact. The graphics were actually a bit better than I remembered.. although obviously not 2018 graphics.
If the game running too fast is the only issue...

I posted my solution for the game running too fast over at this other thread.

(won't let me link to it)

It's a relatively easy fix. The game speed is set to fastest by default. Setting it to Medium returned the game to a more normal pace.
That's really sad, they should have written on the covers of the games about the requirements of the computer accessories on which these games would be able to play or on which computers these games will not even open. Otherwise, users' time and money will be wasted.
