DreamedArtist: I think Zoom platform is so small that the actual Company forgot to remove the games from them, If you look there is GRID which was removed everywhere else as well and some other games that seem to have not been taken down yet either.
So you're suggesting that no one informed the rights holders and/or the rights holders have remained in the dark about their games being on zoom for the past several(5+ in some cases) years?

Not to sound crass or anything, but in what world does that seem plausible?

(btw: several goggers have contacted the rights owners of several games on offer on zoom[including the duke nukem games iirc]....some contacting the rights holders multiple times. The games remain up for sale on zoom and no legal challenges/c&d letters/etc have been served/filed.....so that means that either rights holders don't give a hoot, or[more likely] they are allowing zoom to sell them)

I have all the duke games that came out here so I'm lucky but Zoom store might be the last best bet before the companies remember them and tell them to remove it.

wolfsite: Actually this must be it, if you look at the Duke Nukem games they have the publisher listed is 3D Realms who no longer hold the rights, so it must be that they are so small they were overlooked when Gearbox pulled the games from other stores.
Zoom Platform supposedly has a perpetual license to sell the classic Duke games that supersedes Gearbox's ownership of the franchise.

Thanks for posting this. Yeah, I believe I heard the same thing from a few GOG regulars before.

And it makes sense: GOG also got favorable terms for some games back when it was small and starting up in the market, so I would assume somehow zoom managed the same.

Sidenote: I think some of those skeptical of zoom(in general, I mean, not anyone specific) might be hesitant to commit to a new store for fear of being "burned" again(like with gog/other stores), so they just say "it seems shady" to have any reason to not bother even trying a new store like zoom.
Nobody can sell Duke Nukem Games except those who have "perpetual license rights", or the license's owners, obviously (Gearbox I guess)

Fantastic :D

TheGrand547: Never heard of this platform, is it legit? There are a lot of games on there from 1C which steam versions aren't drm-free from my limited testing, seems odd they'd be selling them externally drm-free.
Well, before I bought any games there I wanted to make sure they were legit, so I searched high and low on the web and what I found convinced me enough that they are. Alas I did not think I would need to provide links to others so did not keep a record. There was also a bit of logic involved in my evaluation too.

They have been around quite a while, and while they may look a bit like an Abandonware site, they have very selected and limited slim pickings if so ... not usual for that type of site. I also used PayPal, and they will often blacklist illegal sites. I also found nothing that said they were illegal, and they get a mention (not separately) on Wikipedia and places like 3D Realms etc.

Hell, you could use logic to look at the fact they have very little Duke stuff there, and they don't just have the original.

I've bought several games from them now, and no way in Hell I would have paid if they were the least bit illegal seeming.
huh, I have the original Duke Nukem 3d CD somewhere lol. Still remember buying from B&M store for like $20 back in the day, about 25 years ago or so lol

Yeah I have the big cardboad box from way back when, and Duke Nukem 1 & 2 were included. It wasn't the Atomic Edition, but at some point they provided the Plutonium Pak as a freebie, for all those that already had the game, to make it the same as the Atomic Version ... so I downloaded that. I never officially had any of the other expansions, so still keen to get them officially. I do have several CD collections of bonus levels for all sorts of games back in the day, and had Duke levels on a few of those.

P.S. Funny how we misremember things sometimes ... been quite a while I guess. ha ha ha
P.S.S. And yes I have the Plasma expansion for Blood too. ;)

Geek/nerd nitpick: It's the Plutonium Pak
(Plasma is for Blood :))
