I just bought Morrowind for the second time. I purchased the GOTY version some, I dunno, ten years ago. And man, let me tell you, that game is STILL at the top of the list for me in terms of immersion. It's not my all time favorite game, but the immersion factor in that one was better than any before, and maybe since, actually. Used to walk around at night just to look up at the two moons because that was sooooo cool. And using the Overhaul mod, man the game actually really looks good too, even today.
But I went ahead and downloaded the Arena game, and wow, the goodies are great. I don't recall getting all of that with the free version I downloaded a few years ago. I've been reading this stuff and here I am psyched to play a game with AWFUL graphics that's some, what, 20 plus years old????
Now do folks see why I like manuals??? That was their beauty back in the day. Reading them (assuming it was a pretty good game) got you psyched even more than if you hadn't read it, and it provides you with knowledge (yet no or very few spoilers) to make your experience better. A 50 page manual going into some depth of all the intricacies of the game is just always going to be far superior to a 10 or 15 minute on-screen hand holding session that never really covers more than the vary basics anyway.
I'm gonna play Arena! (again, although I never finished it before).
