BreOl72: Sorry, but that doesn't really make much sense, since you don't buy from the forum, but from the store.

teceem: New games are announced on the forum and I get an email when games on my wishlist are discounted. I rarely visit the front page.
New games are announced on the front page first (we usually have to post in the threads to make them visible in the forum), and your wishlist can stay untouched.

InkPanther: I wouldn't notice the menu change, I have bookmarked the forum instead of the front page.

BreOl72: Not sure if serious, but...I'm pretty sure, you'd definitely notice, if a 404 is all that pops up after clicking on your bookmark.

Sure, but I would not know that the forum is gone from a change in the drop down menu because I hardly ever look at it.

As a regular forum user, do you really visit the front page more often that the forum?

Of course.
Well, not "more often", but at least as often as the forum.
The front page is my first stop.
It's where I see what's new.
From there I go to the forum.

AB2012: I think some people over-focus on a few negative posts so much that's all they end up seeing.
avatar
W1ldc44t: I agree. I feel like I see more posts mentioning the negativity here on the forums than I actually see negative posts.
Just because the opportunity presents itself:

Ah, I didn't know that. Still, I doubt that I've ever missed a worthwhile (to me) release by not checking the front page.
What do you mean by "your wishlist can stay untouched"?

Of course not - since "we people from the front page" post the news threads into the forum. You're welcome. ;)

Simply a response to your (quote): "I get an email when games on my wishlist are discounted."

I just wanted to assure you that the wishlist would/could stay as it is - even after changes to the community drop down menu.

I misunderstood your sentence as fear, the wishlist would get canned.

I'm not feeling thankful - because of you people I keep buying games, even though I don't need any anymore! ;-P

So, our insidious plan works....muhahahaha...

;)
Pretty sure the GOG forums continued existence will not depend on OPs optimism or pessimism about the forums.

You got into a heated argument in that one thread about Hard West 2 or the other, and suddenly the GOG forums are negative and maybe they should be gotten rid of.

Take a break, stop posting for a week or so, and the forums will be largely the same. Some negativity, some positivity, lots of communication. Altogether not so bad. If not for the spam and the neglect of some basic forum functions I think the forums are doing quite well tbh.

Someone disagrees with me therefore the forum has to be shutdown = one person's problem, not the forum's.

I never claimed such.

Interesting, what strange and far fetched theories some people develop.

The reason for this thread, was simply me having a thought crossing my mind.
A thought about logging in and finding the community menu altered.

And that thought probably only crossed my mind, because I had just thought about the publicity stunt, that GOG had pulled in 2010, and how upset people had been back then, and how GOG could very well do it again at any time, and nobody could do anything about it.

I know, you have some beef with me - but you shouldn't let that come between yourself and rationality.
You love the word rationality - it's not nearly as persuasive a word as you might think.

How about narcissism - another useful word for you to know.

I'll leave it at that.
@lupineshadow Please calm down and don't antagonize other users.
I can't say anything against the moderation.
