I never got into Halo, so I have no interest in this, but I am curious if anyone here has strong feelings on the topic. Are you excited for this? Is it enough to make you subscribe to Paramount+? Are you already subscribed for some other reason?

I only ever played the first game, and I liked it quite a bit, but not enough to have strong feelings about the series. It was just a fun shooter, nothing more, nothing less. I'm curious about the show the same way I'd be curious about any new space opera, especially with the Expanse over, it would be nice to have something fill that spot. That said, the trailer doesn't look very good. I remember the game being much more colorful and interesting visualy (though maybe it's rose tinted glasses), not so drab, brown and grey.

Also, this remix of In the Air Tonight they used... just feels bizarre and doesn't fit at all in my opinion. But maybe it's just me and the fact that for me this song belongs forever to Miami Vice pilot. Seriously, unless you've got Master Chief cruising at night in a Ferrari and calling his ex, then no, I can't feel it in the air.
Paramount+ is a tier of the Prime service in Australia- Prime has a 30 day trial and Paramount tier has a 7 day trial. So I guess I'll use up those trials to at least see how the series starts and then decide from there, plus watch anything else of interest on the services during the trial periods as well. I'm also guessing Microsoft will add a trial and/or discount as perks to Game Pass subscribers as well.

Of course the first thing to get over will be hearing well known characters like Chief and Halsey who's voices just don't match up with what I'm used to hearing. But it cannot possibly be as extreme as watching Hogan's Heroes with German dubbing at a friends house in Germany...I couldn't even work out which person was talking in that one.

No and no and no.

I couldn't care less about any of that.
Halo hasn't been good or relevant since post Reach.

nice another series ... did they manage to put together an ai which will mass produce these series or those cali hipster woke writers are so cheap to make this a viable product ? whats next a mario seriers ?
Lol, it's ridiculous that streaming was supposed to replace cable/Pay-TV because it was so much more convenient having all your favorite TV shows/movies in one place, ie Netflix. Now every big company has their own streaming service. In the old days of cable/pay-TV you needed to pay for very expensive "packages" that included many channels to get all the shows you wanted to watch, and this resulted in consumers revolting and going to Netflix instead. Now streaming has become exactly the same as cable, where you need to pay for huge expensive "packages" containing sucbscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, CBS All Access, Amazon Prime etc just to get the shows/movies you want.

Do these companies even realize that this is going to result in a renaiisance of movie/TV piracy?

So, I played Halo 1 back when it was released. It was ok, the aliens were hugely annoying in a stupid way, and still are. It introduced some really bad gaming things, mouse driving for instance. And the aim cursor is huge. But it’s ok.
Halo 2 I brought when released, was Games For Windows Dead, so only ever got to play it years later cracked, patched, and still barely runnable. It was rubbish.
I recently played halo infinite (funny how everything is going “infinite” now even though they are limited. Nothing has changed, same game, just an open world.
TBH I don’t see the appeal of the series, nothing inherently wrong with them other than blatantly stealing their ideas from Ringworld. It’s just there is nothing special about it. Most other shooters have far better enemies and aiming.
So no, wouldn’t be interested n the series, not really sure how you can make a series out of it? Would not be signing up for another streaming service in either event.
I know nothing about the series, but looking at the cast, it appears that Bokeem Woodbine is playing one of the main characters. That tells me all I need to know about the quality of the series.

Also the story appears to be more of a flashback, about how they created spartans. While the Covenant footage seems to be there just to hype-up the fanbase. I woudn't be surprised if we get 5 minutes in the first episode, then 6 hours of flashbacks, and finally 5 minutes at the end, as a cliffhanher for the next season.

Also there appears to be quite the focus on female representation, which might be indicative of the agenda of the show.

I'll binge watch it when it's all out. Speaking of, the last episode of the boba fett series will be out this week, so I'll be binge watching it sometimes this week.

Thanks for bringing it up. I'd lost track and didn't know there was a new season.

That's convenient. Paramount+ isn't available in most of Europe. It looks like I'm not missing much. The only show of theirs I'm interested in is Evil. Not that I think it's particularly good. It's just that Damien and The Exorcist got cancelled, alongside every show I liked in the slightest.
The trailers don't have me excited. I think their aim is something like Battlestar Galactica with a Halo skin.
Half the show will be about the supportive cast and their relationship and identity dramas, the other half will be about actual Halo stuff. Halo is an action game series for f's sake, so make an action TV series, not some space opera.
