Does anyone know how to add desktop icons for GOG games after they've already been installed? Galaxy is capable of launching all of my games, but I was hoping to add a library on my desktop for better organization, but I don't want to have to go into every individual folder in order to create shortcuts for my games. Is there an easier way to do this?

I mean, shortcuts should have already been added to your desktop unless you disabled it in your settings.

I haven't found an easier way yet. Steam has an option for this, so this might be a feature that GOG will implement at some point. But right now, going into the game folder and finding the executable, then right clicking > send shortcut to desktop, seems to be what you need to do.

Use the standalone installers, which you can keep as backups, these create desktop icons as default. No client for the win again!
Find an icon, they are in the game folders where ever it was set up.I don't know about Galaxy as I don't use it but search in the game folders and them send to desktop and rename or shorten them if necessary.
So it doesn't look like it's possible at this point, but I appreciate the help!
there is no option within gog galaxy or any of gog's tools to recreate desktop icons for the installed games.
your best bet is to create the shortcut yourself.

i know it is the day and age where people simply don't understand how drives/folders/files/shortcuts work. but if you navigate to the drive/folder where you installed the game in question, there will be a file-of-sorts or a shortcut named "launch-<your game>", right-click on it, this will open a menu, hover over "send to >", a sub-menu will appear, select "desktop". a shortcut will be created on your desktop.

I guess the same goes for reading comprehension?

The OP clearly stated: "I don't want to have to go into every individual folder in order to create shortcuts for my games. Is there an easier way to do this?"

The OP knows how to create shortcuts through Windows, but was asking if there is a way to do it within Galaxy.
Find the executable, make shortcut, throw shortcut onto desktop.

Of course, I live in a land free of icons, so I don't know if this has changed.

I think most if not all GOG games already have shortcuts located in their respective directories so you should be able to pull up your base game directory in File Explorer and in the search box type in "*.lnk" (without the double quotes), press CTRL-A to select all and copy them to your desktop. You'll need to delete any superfluous shortcuts (eg. non-game) yourself.

Failing that, you can also search for "*.exe", select all, then right click "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)" or right drag to your desktop and select "Create shortcuts here". Again, you will need to delete any shortcuts that aren't needed/desired. Games which require commandline parameters to run will need to have those added.
On the same subject (not that it will help the OP as wants to do multiples), on several occasions even though the "Show Desktop Icon" is selected at install, one hasn't appeared. I have been able to navigate to the game folder and "send to desktop" and even find the correct icon to overwrite the .exe one. So no real problem (for me).

The point of this post is does anyone know why it usually displays an icon as it should at install, but sometimes doesn't?

Thanks TT, I had been wondering. These little not understood things always frighten me.

No problems. It's happened to me a few times and I just go into the game folder and send the icon to desktop.
