But I support what others have said here, unless there's a very special reason for optical storage media, there's much better options available.

For instance, external hard drive can stores those files without any splitting software, and is more likely to be compatible with a future computer than DVDs (most computers will ship without optical drives the further into the future we go).

BreOl72: Anyone else remember the "good" old days, when we had to play diskjockey with floppy disks/CDs/DVDs?
No, those days were awful. One of the reasons I quickly sought to purchase things on GOG was so I could ditch CDs.

And I ditched floppies back in the 90s. The moment we got CDs, floppies were nothing more than a novelty.

Anyone who doesn't own Microsoft Office that came on 36 floppy disks is seriously missing out!

I still have mine stored somewhere, although I burned all those disk contents on a CD-ROM and wrote a simple installation script which actually sped up the installation by a couple of hours...

kbnrylaec: Old GOG installers could as large as 4294967295 bytes, which can not be supported by FAT32.
Really? What an infuriating goof-up.

but i'd advise against it because dvds rot

And half the installer files were just for the office assistants!

(Actually, what edition was that?) (I read on the MSDN that your figure is from beyond 4.3)
